Marchbank announces he's off to the Blues, leaving Tomlinson with one less club fighting over his signing..

Laverde re-signs with the Bombers after shitting themselves when O'Meara selects the Hawks to pay his medical bills for the next 2-3 years..

They were obviously confident O'Meara would select them with their recent health & rehab program..;)
So the Saints have directly cost the Bombers app another $60k-$80k annually, with the Laverde re-signing..

Keep in mind Marchbank who's body is as healthy as Kristian Jaksch's ability, has also selected the Blues over the Saints..

No question we were interested, though it's clear we had an agenda & it's come to fruition..

What odds we pick up Tomlinson & Steele, as I sense we're in the box seat now..

Tomlinson & Steele for pick 10 rolls off the tongue this trade period..

# Unfortunately this scenario would cost Chips a spot on our list..

Isn't Tomlinson contracted? And I reckon he stays at gws now that he's playing finals with them.

Need a membership first to do that.

Dont know if Impatient Saint is capable of answering your question.

I don't want Rocky either but I laugh at people who think they are so important that they basically threaten the club if the club does something they don't like. Who the hell are these people. Not supporters that's for sure.

I especially enjoy supporters who dont go to games and only watch on TV saying things like our midfield is slowest on the spread in the League.
How in hell can you tell that on TV.

Also from what I saw we mayched and even best numerous top eight teams on the spread.

Apparently we are really slow. It would be funny but I think the guy believes what he posts.

I'm a bit hesitant about using our 1st pick on Rockliff, I would rather use our 1st on Steele an Finlayson, if that how it transpires, to me that helps with 2 of our needs.

As long as it doesn't end up looking like a Carlton 2 for one.

  1. Ship Longer out West for a second round pick and a little Lamb. 3-way with clubs if needed to get a second out of Longer.
  2. Lure Steele with some cold, hard cash. Second rounder to GWS. If they'll bite at Eli (and a 4th?) for Finlayson- wrap that up.
  3. #10 to the draft- Scrimshaw or the 'Rant.
  4. FA a stop-gap FB until Goddard is primed- Brown? If Finlayson doesn't play out.
Inside mid.
Key back.
First round pick.
Wild Card Lamb.

I think the forum is getting a bit het up about trades at the moment.

Lavarde would have been a bonus, Marchbank was Carlton bound since June, JOM too much of a risk.

Need to pump the brakes and let the ignorant and the concern trolls carry on and moan two weeks before trade period.
Let Bains and co do their jobs and dont worry.

I'm sorry, please forgive me.:(

Injured Steele is a bit of a worry though? I can't see any slam-dunk trades being proposed at this point. Rockliff the least risk of all the names mentioned - but he's a bit old and would cost through the nose.

More than happy to go to the draft myself and take an insane amount of money into next year. Throw a massive sum at all of Fyfe, Dusty and Shiel and see what sticks.

I am not convinced players like Steele really add to our list. Think Dunstan is a like for like who is just as good. Weller is a slightly different story. Outside speed and class. Want.

Every other trade suggestion has been very meh IMO. Think it is okay to be patient this year, we are not going to realistically challenge in 2017. Go all out next year and back ourselves to land a genuine A grader. The Steeles of the world wont help us catch the Dogs and GWS.

Dusty is very gettable IMO. Tigers will be terrible next year and needing to rebuild. Dusty loves money, and nobody will have more of it then us.

Apparently Steele will be fit for preseason.

Rockliff will cost a fortune. We look to be positioning to trade out maybe Eli and Longer.

Bains and co can put together complex deal

Nobody saw Sydney involved in the Carlisle deal last year until it happened.

Seems some premature postulating going on by some.
Lets all wait and see.

Still remember your trade melt last year old mate!! It was epic! :D

We are all passionate, I'm actually really bummed about missing out on Laverde myself. I see him as a lot more than a bonus. Of course he is a spud because he 'is going to re-sign' with the injectors, but in reality he would've improved our list and I really rate the kid.

My inner pessimist is actually conjuring up a Dean Cox scenario where in 10 years time we are all saying remember when we almost got him. Of course that's a ridiculous amount of catastrophizing, but let those who want to be bummed get over in their own way.

Marchbank, JOM, well both were injury risks so I never really got my hopes up.

Personally I think we are playing a funny game on here. We are throwing so much mud we are just seeing what sticks. It is strange, we get interest on here for one player he becomes the object of our affection for a fortnight then as soon as he stays with his club we are fed a Rockliff picture to salivate over for the next fortnight, and then Laverde is a spud who we never even knew anyway! If Rocky stays, I'm sure its just going to be someone else who becomes the flavour of next week.

I get emotionally invested in these guys, does that mean I'm trolling if I'm disappointed?

I don't mean to rant but fair go mate, some ppl in here actually want the club to do well and aren't just here to troll oppo campaigners and post gifs of cooked campaigners.

Yep all common sense Joff but reckon intentions of most is right ie improving the Saints list - the club has done a great job over the last 2-3 years of drafting / trading. Can not be denied the club has improved; I like others would like us to keep adding to that puzzle so we can push up the ladder again next year (if we were to get in the 8 would be happy).

Spose reality of the development of the list is more improvement next year but really have a crack the year after - when I like others would love to be able to threaten next year.

Interested to see who if any would be interested in Eli and Longer, if Steele is as good as the reports he would defiantly address a need. While we have Dunstan another player like him helps or he ends up with injuries

Have to agree that Bains and Co can put a complex deal together but damn it is frustrating waiting!!

If we get maybe Steele or even Tomlinson all good & well, then we go to the draft this year & pick the best players available, save even more money. Then its next year when we start looking at ready made stars, throw out the big bickies just to entice them/Martin to us. Let the two Pees (puppies & plastic) have their fun this year & next & we can start our own threepeat in 2018.

Rocky would be nice but will just cost too much. It's a no for me.

I don't want to see us give up at least pick 10 and a player for a guy who will only be here for 3 or 4 decent years.

Pick 10 to the draft
Steele for 2017 2nd
Billy for nothing worse than 23 or he stays
Emac for our 3rd this year
Smack ten colours of shit outta FA next year with a massive war chest. I'm looking at you dylan / jelly.

Put our feet up boys. Job done
