All of this Fyfe talk is overblown. I have it on good authority that the SEN caller overheard Bolts and SOS recreating one of their favourite The Simpsons scenes:

I guess that makes us even after your analysis:) of Taranto;)

Look, we all have our opinions here. If we trade Gibbs for Pick 13, do you think we are doing it because it disadvantages us?

I knew stating the harsh truth about Gibbs' worth wouldn't be popular, but it seems like it is what it is. Which is about where i expected it.

These pipedreams demands of 2 first rounders or 13 and McGovern or Cameron have been making me laugh.

13 for Gibbs would be accepted by SOS i am pretty sure.

I just hope we don't give up 24 for Lyons as well though.

Your opinion is truth now? Everyone else's opinion is wrong unless it lines up with yours?

Neither are great players

SK forget about DE, its not just about stats- his kicking forward of center is terrible and that's critical

No good

Move on

Funnily enough Lyons is actually a very good kick when going inside 50. He always tends to lower the eyes and look for lead up targets rather than blaze away. Smart footballer.

He's a ****load better than Kerridge in terms of kicking imo. Very neat, handy player that rarely puts a foot wrong.

Me watching him with my very own eyes for the past 6 years says otherwise....

I always thought Kerridge was a shitty kick and wasn't phased at all by the club letting him go despite quite the uproar on our board. Sometimes executes a serious daisy cutter, and other times he lets rip a real worm burner, was way too inconsistent.

Lyons is much more consistent and neater with his kicking. Like I said is funnily enough one of our best kicks inside 50. He's a smart footballer and that helps him enormously. Struggles to kick 50, but has very tidy disposal and has a good eye for goal. I think you guys will be a lot happier and impressed with Lyons, over someone like Kerridge ( if you did trade him in the end).

God knows we need some smarter players. Thought we had left behind our "JUST KICK THE ****ING THING FORWARD" woes when guys like Robinson and Bell left, but it still appears on the odd occasion.

Do you have secret way of judging the list manager's body of work other than looking at the aggregate trades of that list manager? Interested to hear what that might be.

You didnt refer to 'aggregate trades' - you specifically referred to each trade on its merits....

which was my point champ.

cough cough B.Gibbs.

I made two points, champ:

First is that a list manager should be judged on the body of their work.

Second is that an individual trade should be judged on its merit.

Not too hard to make the logical leap to say that the body of the work is the aggregate trades. What else could it be?

Signed until end of next year. Bolts wanted us to go after him as our key target but SOS wants Fyfe to be our focus instead.

Essentially our TPPs is being distributed with one of these guys clearly in mind but we're not going to have enough to land both so who we target has caused a fair bit of internal debate of late.

SOS is concerned about lingering effects of his knee reconstruction which ruled him out of football in 2014. Bolts points to the fact he still achieved plenty as a bottom-aged player in 2013, when he played four games for Vic Metro and had a strong season with the Calder Cannons.

Bolts has highlighted the fact he was Adelaide's second Rising Star nominee last year, in a game in which he gathered 24 possessions in and ran at 92 per cent disposal efficiency. Depsite not having the experienced Daniel Talia by his side, Jake took 10 marks, generated seven rebound 50s and won 14 intercept possessions, more than any other player in the league.

Bolts thinks he is getting better week by week and can still be a 150-200+ game player for us. He thinks he's a real leader and competitor and just loves the way he goes about it.

Despite the impressive resume already, SOS just can't go past Nate Fyfe.

SOS has been tracking him closely since 2012 to when Fyfe still polled the second-most Brownlow Medal votes at Freo despite playing only nine games in the home and away season, the fact that two were compromised because of his shoulder also didn't go unnoticed with SOS.

Despite his injury concern last year, the two years prior were elite and Bolts can't despute Fyfe was clearly Fremantle’s best contested possession winner which was also 14th overall in the AFL .

Bolts is largely concerned about his disposal efficiency but SOS doesn't care about his disposal efficiency, citing he won the AFL Players’ Association MVP award, All Australian selection in the and a second Doig Medal in 2014.

SOS believes he can get better still which he proved in 2015 by winning the Brownlow Medal, his second AFL Players' Association MVP award and another All Australian selection in the midfield. He is arguably the best player of the modern era so its a tough call.

Anyway this argument had led to tension building and I daresay had a big part in the recent rumoured rift between the pair.

It culminated in Bolts giving a lengthy but compelling argument to the board who were close to being prepared to overule SOS, but apparently SOS walked in while Bolts was finishing up, sat down with a considered look and had the whole room silent in anticipation. After a few minutes SOS stood up, looked and everyone earnestly and declared, better Nate than Lever.

That's all I know.
POTY

Why have we got such an appetite to improve Adelaide's list and screw our own?
I'm sick of seeing good players getting around in Crows jumpers.
The draft can be a huge punt and almost ever year, 5 of the top 10 picks are a bust or never really kick on so please enough with the Gibbs to Crows crap SOS & BB ain't that stupid

I get you don't rate him however stats can be used to find whatever you want. If you compare him (this year) to Gibbs:

Lyons had a DE% of 67.2 with 4.2 clearances, 2.2 clangers, 4.7 tackles, kicked 15 goals and had 18 goal assists.
Gibbs had a DE% of 69.7, with 4.8 clearances, 2.9 clangers, 5.2 tackles, kicked 18 goals and had 16 goal assists.

Obviously he's not Fyfe, but he's no David Mackay either.

Anyway, looking forward to Monday when the real shit starts.

What was the average possessions for both just out of curiosity ?

Gibbs averaged 27 disposals per game to Lyons 21 and was our number 2 mid that gets tagged in quite a few of our games, so no point comparing the two.

The players in Carlton's side that are worth comparing to Lyons are Graham, Whiley, Curnow and Kerridge. Fringe midfielders who cop very little heat from the opposition.

Don't mind the 5 for 5 deal:

Marchbank will be a gun for the next 10+ years.

Pickett is a super talent and I back Bolts to get the very best out of him.

Stewart showed plenty when he played at senior level to suggest he's a much better key forward option up than Levi, Jones or Jacksh, and he ll only get better under a coach who shows faith in him. Good option up forward next to McKay, SOS and Charlie.
