The 5th player from GWS B70 hasn't mentioned could be Adam Kennedy?
Melbourne boy from out my way. Has fallen out of favor a little bit.

Was a regular fixture during their first few seasons, I thought he was playing really well.

Doesn't seem that 'left of field' though.

Think I found my new talent...

What is it with Carlton supporters and sycophantic blind faith in messiah figures? I thought we had promised we were done with this sort of outlook. I don't bloody well trust anyone making decisions at Carlton and with good reason, and they should be heavily scrutinised. None of this "I trust the club business".

I agree with you........but where's your point being directed? :)

It's not about being sycophantic or blind support of messiahs.

It's about recognising that we aren't in control, we don't have a crystal ball, we can't conclusively say that if one method fails once, then we abandon it forever.

So our options are to howl at the moon on the internet even though it won't change anything or cross our fingers and hope those that know more than us are thinking clearly.

At the end of the day these people are held accountable when they stuff up, not before based on thousands of differing amateur recruiter opinions.

I highly doubt all these posters commenting how they don't like the idea of the trade now anything about the gws players we are allegedly getting beyond the fact they aren't in their best 22.

Pretty sure sos would know a bit mode than that more about those players...
He might know more about those players but he doesn't have a crystal ball like me ... shouldn't have bought an opaque one, though.

Largely agree but am still waiting for McKay/Gleeson to be held accountable... #waiting

Nowhere in particular just venting mate :), I do agree we should wait until all deals are done before we can judge.

I just couldn't see how we could manoeuver around not losing a first, but I was wanting it to be next years and not this years.
I did say that GWS would have a gun to our head if they insisted on our #5 and they have.....but we don't really know what's coming back to us, for now.

I know some are counting up the quantity of the GWS players we may have to have on the books but all I care about is the quality vs what we gave up for them. That's all that matters.
There was a clear opportunity to wrest away some of the GWS quality and depth and we will have done that in the SOS era.
Last year we did very well whichever way you care to look at it.......This year? We'll see.

I must admit, the more I think about the 5 for 5 trade, the more I don't like.
Last year we passed on pick 28 for the players and not many raised an eyebrow.
I feel if we did similar with pick 24 or even a pick in the low 20's (which I know we don't have) but people would probably be more acceptable.
I think pick 5 is too much and even though I do trust SOS, I hope we aren't outsmarting ourselves.
Remember Tomlinson deal last year? That still doesn't sit well with me!
I agree with your reasoning there and if the five players we think it is turns out correct, I really hope there's a substantial pick coming back our way.

If we managed to jag a pick around 18 for Tuohy, I wonder if that might be used instead of 5. Would be very happy with that instead, even if we only get four of those guys perhaps.

I'm confident SOS will do what's best for our list long-term, but I have the feeling I might be a bit disappointed with this trade in isolation when it goes through. Then again, we thought the same about the Menzel/Kerridge thing and it was further improved with another trade so... Wait and see I guess.

Boyd had been considered a mistake by the Bulldogs right up until the grand final. The success of the overall strategy won't be known for a couple of years yet, and even then it can only take one Leo Barry esque mark by Marchbank to declare years of criticism were wrong.

Whatever SOS does the odds are against it being successful. However what I do see is us taking a route I've not seen before and is really only available due to unique circumstances. Taking a different strategy excites me more then following the same route as every other would be contender.

Let's look at it from the giants perspective for a moment.
Pickett - pick 4
Marchbank - pick 6
Corr - pick 14
Stewart - pick 27
Kennedy - pre selection akin to a rookie draft pick

If gws came to us with pick 5 next year, would we offer up:
McKay - pick 8 - unable to get onto the park due to injury
C.Curnow - pick 12 - unable to get a good run due to injury
Cuningham - pick 19 - unable to get onto the park due to injury
Graham - pick 53 - just a foot soldier
Sheehan - rookie unable to get on the park due to injury.

Maybe the 5 players from gws is more valuable than 1 player like Brodie who has questionable kicking skills.

Your right working on pick 16 or 17

Flock of Seagulls - I ran.

Great tune.

Now we are talking Navy Cream. One of my favoritest ever songs from a time I look back at and wish I was there again.
That guy on keyboard freaks me out these days if ever the clip pops up. Not something for young kiddies to see, especially befor bed.

Marchbank, Corr, Stewart, Pickett, Kennedy.

Rising 20y KPD - Former early draft pick. Probably GWS best 22 if not for injury.

22y KPD - Former 1st round draft pick. Good 2015. Behind Davis, Haynes, Marchbank and Patful.

22y KPF - Showed a little early. Miles away from seniors in 2016.

20y Midfielder/small forward. Early draft pick cruelled by injury.

24y small defender. Overlooked in his draft. Out of favour.

Seems our mids will be Hrovat and the spectre of Pickett.
