Can't copy the tweet here, but CFC trade guru replied to my query. He replied in two tweets, the first one saying 'it wasnt offered, we offered it and they declined', with the next saying 'SOS was unsatisfied with that offer, but it appears it will get the deal done now'.

Contradicting himself = talking out of his arse

The same plowman who had no pre-season and still managed to have a decent year as a 21 y.o. Key defender, former no.3 draft pick.

Give him a full pre-season and he would play for most sides.

Given the Carlton level of fitness, he should have made the top 10 on the back of no pre season

soooo out again today...33 more pages...anything new? Carlton still not talking? Want Sloane, Brad and Matt and CC plus 13 for Gibbs? Yes we know he has three years to run and that we have to pay up?
We just go a try to get Hanley or Rockliff instead and Carlton and SOS can explain to Mrs Gibbs why they were aswipes and and she just has to suck it up and hire a nanny and get skype so the grandies can see Gibbs junior...?
Carlton trying for 5 GWS players with one pick this time...
I'm sure this has been argued a few times since yesterday.

If Menzel gets through another PS without getting concussed then I'm thinking Round 1 is a massive chance.
I just started responding to posts where I left off.... page 127. Now 198! I think i'll skip the rest.

Silvagni traded one pick (28), and it netted him 4 players with at least one of them (plowman) being good enough to play in most sides
If any of the others come off it's a huge win.

Lamb, Phillips, Plowman and Sumner (and pick 8)?

for Picks 28, 77, 95 and Geelong's first from this year (pick 16, later on-traded again)?

Lamb was originally pick 21
Phillips was a rookie
Plowman was pick 3
Sumner was pick 10

Thats interesting seeing how previous SOS recruits have depreciated so quickly... ;)

The deal was basically for Plowman, and three steak knives (perhaps GWS said "please take these guys") were thrown in

Not really a great indication though when these "steak knives" were former high picks from your new god emperor recruiting manager though

Ever get the feeling that in a couple of years time, SOS will be on trade radio giving his opinions on teams trading and drafting and Purple will be saying " others have said different but you think XYZ, that's why you're the best in the business"

And I am not disputing that even for a second. In fact I 100% agree with it.

Anyway that still does not answer my question. Other than Sydney and GWS what other teams currently have 3 genuine A graders in their midfield.
Well it really depends on who you define as an A grader.

Collingwood - Pendlebury, Treloar, Sidebottom (and Swan if we're counting A grade midfield lists heading into the 2016 season).
GC - Ablett, Prestia, O'Meara
Hawthorn - Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis

Like I think you could argue a few of these guys aren't genuine A graders, O'Meara probably hasn't shown enough for long enough and Lewis is on the decline but they are or have been A grade talent. You've then got teams that either have a couple of top 10-15 midfielders (Geelong for example) or those with a number of high B+ grade ones like Freo who have Mundy/Barlow/Bennell (who is A grade talent imo) behind Fyfe and Neale.

Seems like a number of the above have missed out on a fair chunk of footy this season due to injuries.

Unfairly so I reckon...heard Betts talking about how he struggled with workload as compared to at Blues. Took him 12 months to build that base to where it needed be. Menzel going through that now

Said it before and I'll say it again. If we play Douglas in a half forward role ahead of Menzel next year I reckon we got rocks in our head.

Not sure if his has been posted before [apologies if it has] but interesting take on the Bryce Gibbs trade scenario by Champion Data's Jacob Wilson...

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/gibbs-requests-trade-to-adelaide.1148568/page-198

CARLTON may be unable to offload homesick midfielder Bryce Gibbs if it cannot find a suitable trade with his preferred club of Adelaide.

But one leading AFL analyst is surprised the Blues didn’t accept the Crows’ reported first offer.

Adelaide initially offered their first round pick (13), which is likely to be apart of any deal for Gibbs, as well as out-of-contract midfielder Jarryd Lyons.

But that bid was swiftly rejected by Carlton in a move that surprised Champion Data’s Jacob Wilson.

“It surprises me that Carlton wouldn’t accept Jarryd Lyons as Lyons and Gibbs are very similar players,” Wilson told the Fox Footy podcast.

“There were eight players in the league last year who rated as elite for goals and assists coming out of the midfield — one of them was Bryce Gibbs, another was Jarryd Lyons.

“He provides a lot that Gibbs already does and he’s four years younger.”

Gibbs’ statistics were excellent in 2016, with the Blue averaging 26.8 disposals (9.5 contested) and kicking 18 goals in 22 games. Lyons was also solid averaging 21.6 disposals (10.4 contested) and booting 15 goals in 20 matches.

But perhaps surprisingly, according to Champion Data’s closely guarded player ratings, Lyons was rated “slightly above” Gibbs in 2016.

“He (Lyons) wins a bit more contested ball and does most of his work in the forward half, (plus) he’s a bit more clean with the ball,” Wilson explained.

“In 2015 he was playing as a sub a lot but if you normalise his numbers out over a full match, his numbers were great in that year as well.

“Jarryd Lyons I feel is a very underrated player by Carlton and if they offered me (Pick) 13 and Lyons, I’d do that deal in a heartbeat.”

Carlton has reportedly asked for young players such as Charlie Cameron and/or Mitch McGovern in exchange for Gibbs.

But the deal has hit several snags with Adelaide seemingly unwilling to give up those players, nor the players themselves wishing to be traded to the Blues.

The trade could be a goldmine for the Crows with Wilson stating Gibbs could be the perfect player for the South Australian club as it looks for the final piece of the premiership puzzle.

“Bryce Gibbs would be a great fit for Adelaide because they’ve already got all of those bulls inside with the Crouches (Matt and Brad), (Scott) Thompson and (Rory) Sloane,” Wilson said.

“Gibbs is more of that uncontested style (of player) than what they currently have.”

There was a rumour that gws liked to package guys up for a trade as a way to help their development if they didnt see a future for them at gws. say a club wants 1 player they throw in another spud for free and say theyll only do the deal if both players are offered a contract. not sure if true, just remember reading about it here or on reddit somewhere

Or SOS could over-rate some GWS players that he recruited to the club

Yeah that's also a possibility. But looking at the deal now it wasn't a massive steal for Carlton because 3/4 players they traded in are pretty mediocre

We could delist Lamb, Sumner and Phillips now if we wanted to.

1 year of carrying 3 list cloggers is worth Plowman for 10 years and pick 28.
