We needed to have a pick between 13 and 43. We got reamed in the lyons deal. A pick in the 20s or even early 30s wouldve delivered basically a first rd player with the depth of this draft.
Wash your mouth out with soap!Anything could happen
Even English to Crows wouldn't completely shock
Please no

You may have 5 more minutes on top of those 36 monthsdodorro said he may ask for extra time for pick 1 lol

I agree to a certain extent that Brodie is the type of player we need but I don't think that we are as desperate as some people make out. I believe that any team can only afford to play 2 of those in-and-under inside mids with limited outside games. We currently have M.Crouch who is a long term player and looks like he is going to be A-grade. We also have Thompson for this year along with CEY and Greenwood who may or may not make it. I think we could pick up another inside mid with a later pick and be confident that one of him, CEY or Greenwood will make the grade but probably not star.Although the phantoms don't mean much this year, everyone seems certain that Brodie wont slip down past Sydney's pick. He sounds to me on description the exact player we needed![]()
Get the feeling Brodie doesn't make it past Sydney. We definately need a midfielder with our first pick.
I am hoping Will Brodie slides to us
If he is gone, I think Alex Witherden also suits our needs and can be that inside / outside mid that we need.
He had a badly broken leg earlier in the year but think he has the game to be a very good player.
dude it was a jokeI'm sorry, but that should be grounds for being relieved of the pick. They should have 15 seconds to make their selection or lose it to save wasting everyone's time...
dude it was a joke
Not sure about the Gallucci bit but overall, I agree with this post.I agree to a certain extent that Brodie is the type of player we need but I don't think that we are as desperate as some people make out. Our greatest need in my opinion is an balanced mid with genuine speed away from the contest as when we get beaten it is usually in our spread away from the contest. Currently out of our inside midfield group of Sloane, Crouchx2, Thompson/CEY, MacKay and Atkins (who I think will spend significantly more time as an inside mid next year) only Brad Crouch and MacKay have decent speed. The player who best fits this bill is Gallucci although I don't think that he is as good a player as Brodie or some of the others who might be available at pick 13.
You're joking right?I don't think it's midfielder or bust with our first pick, take the best talent available and potentially trade them to Carlton next year for Gibbs.

I think in terms of what we need and would like in terms of midfielder, Venables is the type that fits the best. Big body, can play inside and has has the break away speed from stoppage, strong overhead and it a goal kicker when he plays forward. If his medical comes up great, I would be stoked if we pick up this kid. I feel his upside is enormous. Once you get his fitness up to the AFL midfield standard, he will be a beast.
I know people want immediate impact but I am patient and looking at the long term here. I want to get the best player from this draft in the long run, like we did with Dangerfield. Immediate impact would be nice but I want a superstar in the long run. If it means we wait 3 years before he starts getting "tagged" then so be it.
Foot injuries worry me!Agree, big fan of Venables, just doesn't seem to be on our radar judging by the "expert" opinion, so not getting my hopes up there.
I think Gallucci offers a great mix between inside and out, my main concern with him is his size, but has a lot of weapons.
