Still a chance. Richo has to be used as an attacking bowling. Let Mennie and Sayers hit a consistent line and length and let Richo use his pace to attack.

That'll do it, 5 wicket win after conceding over 400 in the 1st innings, another magnificent victory by the best state team ever assembled!

Nice game for Harper, over 100 runs for 1 dismissal and 135 runs for Finch as well, 2 very handy inclusions, shame some of the regulars didn't do as well

James Pattinson will be back soon also.... Oh my days.

And Sids who'd still be a very good performer at this level. Sids, Patto, Tremain and Holland with two of Stoinis, Christian and Hastings.

Happy days.

We've found a good one in Harper. 19 year old wk, looks really good at this level.

This will be interesting. If Wade can stay in the test side for a while then Harper is going to get a good sustained look at Shield cricket, which can only be good for his development.

If however, Wade stumbles and/or Nevill fires then we may have to play Harper as a specialist batsmen. Will they though... I'm not overly confident.

For the rounds after the BBL break

Dean, Harris, Maxwell, Finch, White, Harper, Christian/Stoinis, Pattinson, Siddle, Tremain, Holland

There'd surely be a round or two after BBL where Handscomb would be back?

Great win by the Vics

Pretty meek rollover from the Redbacks. Thought we'd gone past all that. Making 400 and having the opposition 5/131 in reply it's hard to believe we lost the game so easily.

Question marks - Kelvin Smith as an opener. Has now played 14 Shield games and averages 23. Do we keep persevering? One half century in four shield games this season. Who are the other options?

Fourth bowler? Zampa heads off to Aussie one day duty and misses the next Shield game. Do we play a fourth quick? If so, who? Otherwise which spinner gets the nod? Haven't been particularly impressed by Andrews or Cormack so far but early days.

Travis Head also misses due to the one dayers. Is Ferguson vice captain? Which batter replaces him - Alex Ross?

From your point of view, it's good to see Head back in the runs, and Weatherald seems to be establishing himself as a reliable scorer at the top.

Perhaps Cooper as captain? Ferguson in his current funk just needs to concentrate on his own personal form.

Reckon you have to go Richo, Mennie, Sayers, Worrall when he returns. Hell, right now that's the attack I'd be playing first up (Zampa is puss).

Cooper can act as an okay part timer too.

Cooper certainly has a good cricket brain and is an experienced player. Would be a good option though quite a rise after he lost his contract at the end of last season!

Alex Ross breaking a finger and Travis Head away in South Africa has opened the door for him and he's regained his touch after a barren 18 months.

Worrall still out injured unfortunately

We actually lose Head's part time offies too (not that they are anything special)
