Pyeman on EbnW also said it a few weeks back, lot of diff types not much depth also (Atm) doesn't appear any superstars, 2018 draft looks good. Brander Fogarty and Rayner not on same level as Judd/Hodge draft.

Personally I still think Fogarty and Brander have potential gun written all over them.
When was the last draft that was on the same level as that though? I'd still regard it as the best draft ever so far.

Think he just meant not any stand out star types like a Hodge or Judd. Which recruiters knew full well going into the draft it was going to spit out genuine star types.

So it's not that no stars may eventuate, more there are no players standing out as stars yet. ie no freaks. just even types across the board at this stage.

Champ games can raise a players draft rating by alot so we will see then. I personally think there will be stars because there hasn't been a draft yet have 0 players who at least became a gun.

2002 and 2003 drafts aren't exactly good but even they had a couple right at the top who were elite. Needed to pick the right player or you got Buckleys.

Could explain why we're into Schache then loki04.

Most likely is.

Schache has over all struggled but much like Moore doesn't have great forward support. In saying that Hipwood has outshone him in the same forward set up and being the same in age (19).

Think (without looking it up) these 200cm+ type fwds tend to take a bit longer to come on then the 194-197cm types.

I also query just how good some of these uber tall forwards (200cm types) are when they dominate u18 level usually against an opponent alot smaller then them.
They get to AFL and get an opponent much closer in height and tend to no longer be the dominant tall they were as a jnr.

Also we are yet to see any 200cm+ fwds be as dominant as Buddy or even Fev.

The closest we have is T.J.Lynch from GC (199cm), who's best goal kicking year was last season with 66 before that 40 and 44.

Tippett next best at 203cm 55 goal year back in 09 and since has been a mid 30s to mid 40s player.

People seemingly trying to shy away from a traditional sized FF/CHF types at 193-197cm. Recruiters all trying to find a dominant behemoth.

Haven't seen much of Hipwood but enough for me to say he might be the best of all the young forwards. Good analysis at #3079. Looking at that if 2017 pans out an average draft, I'd be happy to give up a high pick for Schache.

Not fussed on Younger Reid but if he decides to come home and pick Tigers over us, I'll spew!!!!!!

Enjoyed reading that til the sick feeling in my stomach from us taking Bo Nixon ahead of Tom Lonergan!

They didn't get caught and have to sit out two seasons. I admire the Club backing both LK and JT but they have a debt to pay and not looking like it right now.
Keeping their mouth shut is the debt they've repaid.

Being good footballers was always just a bonus.

In fairness to Lynch though, he's not yet in his prime and he scored those goals in awful an awful team. Currently on track for another 60+ goal year too.

Richmond and Pies leading the charge for Schache.......3.5 million five years as per Barrett on the FS.

Wasn't last years draft choco block full of mids?

Welcome to the Pies then, Joshy boy!

The Collingwood Football Club do not lose player recruitment races to Richmond... :D

Trade in, Lever and Schache.
Pittard as a FA and I'd still look at Reid.

In:
Lever
Schache
Pittard
Reid

Out:

Well I would not believe Barrett after his Grundy Talk this week.

Schache have more change of Getting a Game with us then at Tigers

Why Dave the Tigers only have one full forward also.

By the way Dave we have established that Barett never said Grundy was gone.
