How did wigg, Cheney and Doedee look?
Wig is on that you notice every so often then look up the stats and realise he has been the one getting the ball out. In the 3rd and last it was his clean hands and strong body, with good blocking from Thommo that got the game going our way.

Cheney was solid. As a defensive unit I thought we pushed up too high most of the time and Doedee was Doedee.

Harry looked good down back too, his reading of the play is excellent.

Was gonna say, Dear is looking increasingly comfortable down back with every week that passes.

Mcgovern straight back in you'd think.

Seedsman to play a couple more games in the 2s then straight back in. Maybe try get Seeds back for that game against Carlton at the G in a few weeks.

We need our best team against Carlton at the G, it'll be our last game there before the Grand final. Would be good to test our game plan our on that ground with our best team.
GF. Hold ya horses big fella.

You beauty!

It was 14 frees each finished at 27-18 thats a 13-4 run.

Sounded like a cracking game.

That was probably the most evenly umpired SANFL game I've watched / attended that involved the crows reserves. Few dubious calls still, but they went both ways.

He is seriously quick, loves to tackle and hit hard, agile and a very good mark. I think this will help him in respect to consistency and his forward craft.

Surely we can't go back to the Mackey well, other players must be given these opportunities to show if they can step up.

He was literally non existent today. Didn't even get involved!

At least the Gooch was still hard at it for a small guy and working off the ball when he faded in the second half. Was involved in some crucial patches late.

Also, Jarman seems to be getting better and better game by game. He's coming along nicely. Appears to have put on a bit of bulk and that strength seems to be serving him well. Has a bit more spring in his step and is tackling harder.

Yet the experienced and slightly built Mackay was invisible.

I'm sorry but, yeah, no. The lack of consistency in respect to sanfl umpires and our team is bad and I say that as a former umpire. That last quarter was downright disgusting.

I really think Gooch is going to be something special eventually.

How does someone get 25 possessions with 0 inside 50s and 0 rebound 50s? Thompson just doesn't do enough over the ground to ever be effective again at AFL level. Not to mention his 5 frees against which were costly today and would be even more so against AFL teams who punish turnovers far more than SANFL teams do.

Cheney was a bit quiet, but took some good marks and used it well. Executed a few 20m bullets.

Doedee I noticed was trying to play loose man in the second half and he ****ing sucks at it. Probably something we are trying to work on with him.

He was standing in the hole, but constantly mistimed when to push hard forward and affect the contest in front, or defend over the back. He was constantly caught out and just running in circles really. Think he players better when he has an actual direct opponent. Did take some great grabs again though as always.

He was feeding it to our other mids, especially Wigg. One of those frees against was when he was tackled high and it was paid against him for high! He had the ball.

The last quarter was in their favour yes, maybe it's because I was expecting the favouritism and we still won that it didn't bother me.

But on the whole it wasn't THAT bad. Most other games have been a lot worse across all 4 quarters.

He has a serious, serious problem kicking for goal though.

Like a serious problem....

Everytime he's streaming into the 50 he sprays a helicopter off the right, that won't even make the distance and trickles over the line either for a boundary throw in or a behind.

In his draft footage he did about 4 times. He's done it multiple times at SANFL level including today and he did it vs Brisbane. And it's always the same thing, a helicopter off the right.

He looks very promising and his kicking is very, very good all other times. Has a nice long kick but can also execute those short darts.

But yeah that kicking for goal on the run issue is starting to worry me. I know it's his first year, but he does the EXACT same thing so often it's a bit of a concern for me.

That type of one-dimensional play isn't good enough at AFL level anymore though, you need to be able to be damaging with the ball as well and work both ways to provide defensive pressure. He cost us so many times last season both through his poor/slow ball use and his lack of two-way running.

In relation to the free kicks, he was caught with the ball at crucial stages twice in the last 5 minutes today (the second time wasn't actually paid as a free kick), both of which led to scores.
