anyone who watches Pyke's pressers know what he's saying, what's so cryptic about it, he's fairly straightforward. perhaps people with their own ideas like to imagine what they think he's saying, is that it?
Lol, you are naive if you think Pyke is straightforward & informative at press conferences.

He was always going to rest players despite what he said earlier in the week. Had some posters melting on the changes thread, before Talia & Tex were pulled.

We haven't won a significant final since the qualifying final of 2006. Every single other one since then we've lost. Forgive the pessimism.

But FWIW I'm as confident going into this finals series as I've felt in any since 1998
That's a pretty good hedge tbh

We go in underdogs against either of Geelong or Sydney. The rest and we are marginal favourites.

No bloody way. We are far and away the best team in this competition. We would go in short odds favs against every team that is left in the eight

Bullshit.

We're favorites against everyone. We are top, with the best record against the fellow top 4 teams (4-2) and the first two are at AO. We are the best side in the league coming into finals by our record. We are massive favorites against every team at AO (except Sydney), and favorites in most match ups at the MCG.

We're past the point we get the privilege to go into matches as underdogs this finals series, unless of course, we end up travelling to Sydney.

Forgive other people's pessimism :)

I haven't said anything about who I want to play, or avoid.

Geelong should absolutely get their home finals at their home ground. But the AFL isn't a fair organisation.

**** no.

That's purely because that place is a graveyard to us, and I never want to see us ever play a match of importance there.

Geelong should absolutely get their home finals at their home ground. But the AFL isn't a fair organisation.

Why?

Only way Geelong should get a final in Geelong is if they're willing to give up all seats to opposition supporter members.

Members of both sides have a right to be able to get a seat at a final.

Because it's their home ground. Fairness suggests that's where it should be played. Preliminary Finals included. I understand the crowd etc but that shouldn't be a consideration.

When was the last final at Telstra Dome out of interest?

If they want to play a final at a home ground they should pick a home ground with better seating capacity.

Besides, they play home games at the MCG all the time.

They don't get to cherry pick which home ground they want at the MCG for the attendance fees and which they want in Geelong for strategic advantage.

I understand what you're saying but I disagree on principle. Geelong's home ground is Kardinia. That's where their home finals should be played.

Normally I'd agree with you, it's the fair thing to do - but it's Geelong, so bugger them

Why? There is no history of playing finals any where else except the MCG or Waverly. In the VFL days finals were never played at the home ground.

And since the start of the AFL it has always been home state ground, not home ground.

I'm not saying otherwise. I'm actually arguing against that tradition.

It makes no sense, in terms of how a sporting competition should work.

Your home ground should be your home ground. Period. All of your earned finals should be played there. I even argue that the Grand Final should be played at the ground of the highest finisher, or rotated annually.
