HS reporting that could be 22 for Ablett and 37.

Starts off by saying it will just be 35 but then said there would be some pick swaps a la Lewis last year.

22 for Ablett and 37 is an tragic for us

I think what they mean is Geelong and GC have probably agreed 35 is fair but GC are short on list spots so they may need to upgrade picks via a 3rd club. If the weller deal goes through they will shed some picks in the 20s otherwise they will have too many.

No offence but how could you possibly know that.

He wants to play at Ess. Why is that so hard for ppl to stomach. If he wanted to play at Geelong then we'd have him by now. I fear for a few of you guys' ex-missus'

Deledio wanted to play at Geelong but he had to change his club choice to leave Richmond. Stringer might be faced with the same choice tomorrow.

He was told to find a new club, sure they'd keep him if no one wanted him, but they still told him to look elsewhere. That's ditching IMO.
I think they all knew he wanted to play more, especially in the midfield, but that his opportunities would be limited with the current list. They had a meeting and agreed to give him a chance to test the market and let him go if he found something to his liking. If not, he still had a spot. IMHO

Connors probably wants 19 for essendon but we probably want to keep in case Essendon falls over and he chooses us instead.

Exactly so lets make the most of that. How much is it worth the them?

Pick 25, 28 and 30 and we will give them pick 40 (Lang)

Leaves us with 22, 25, 28, 30, 35 and 53. With Rookie upgrades we only need 4 live picks ourselves. 5 max. 35 for Ablett and 4 picks under 30.

Pick 41 their 3rd rnd pick seems likely. If 35 goes for Ablett in some way and 41 in for Lang i can accept that.
Agree if we straight swap Ablett for pick 35 and get 41 for Lang..... 6 spots different, id be happy with that

Conners starting to backtrack by the sounds of things o_O In saying that im pretty sure in an early interview he mentioned both Geelong & Essendon as clubs of choice (or something to that effect)

Lol Port are going to try and send Lobbe to Carlton and give Carlton a pick as well! (If the AFL allow it). Either they do have cap issues or they really don't rate him.
That kind of trade is pretty common in the US, I had wondered when it would start occurring here.

That's not true re Lang we have offered a deal but his manager said he wants more opportunities and is concerned he won't get gametime with Ablett coming in.
I'm not entirely sure we did put a contract on the table for Darcy. That's the way I interpreted what Scott Lucas said today. It is certainly true his main reason for choosing the Blues is more midfield time.

I read today that Rockcliff & Lobbe dont get along and there is no way they could play in the same team. I`ll try and find the artical

But I think you've touched on something that sets geelong apart.
If Fev had guys like Harley, Scarlet, Ling and Chapman around him, I reckon he would have been fine.
GFC clearly have a good system that cares for the players, it makes us a destination club. Guys 18 to 24 probably don't think about this sort of stuff and don't get much chance to choose anyway. I like players going back home for all clubs and the AFL are stupid if they don't see the value in it as well.

I think the first club mentioned was Geelong. They know he needs help and Geelong would be out of Melb and has a good record of caring for players. Someone like Tim Watson got in his ear and told him Ess could help him, probably have some left over supplements, just bend over and take it like a man.

We did offer a contract Wells said this recently. But i think it was a very low money one and we didn't want to guarantee Lang the gametime he wanted.

Well technically the afl could block it given what they have said about trades needing to make commercial sense for both parties etc. But it would add an interesting element to trades if they allow it.

One issue is i dont like helping essendon but hmm it's possible.

The other is Lonergan Mackie Cowan Motlop Lang out and Ablett and Parsons in only leaves 3 list spots or 4 if we delist hayball. Only want as many spots as we have picks.

Ruggles another potential delisting and further spot.

I initially read this as:
"Gold Coast clearly have a good system that cares for the players",
and I chuckled, but now I fully am on board.
