What do they gain by confusing other clubs they have pick one and leaving it to the last minute to choose who they want would just confuse themself lol. Externally they arnt going to blabber it out to the media but club to club they would have recruiters at all hot prospect games and know what’s going on. All it takes a phone call so who you guys got so we can decide

I think our 3 preferences are LDU, Brayshaw and Cerra.

Pretty confident no matter how the cards get dealt we will get 2 of them.

Carlton almost certainly go Rayner and North Stephenson.

If North goes Stephenson, in my scenario above then Dow slides down to our pick 5 so we then have a choice of Dow or Cerra or DFog.. in that scenario I’d go Dow.

If you want to be the best club then you need to draft the best players. Not go the safe option.

I am certain the club will draft two of the best players.

None of us have any idea who the club rates as the best player. It has consistently stated it rates the top 7 highly.

In Phantom Drafts and BF discusses, there is a tendency to go for players perceived to be “match winners” especially if they resemble a current star player, and even more so if they are a goal kicker.

Hunter Clark is a very good player, wouldn't surprise if he ends up better than some of those considered 'above' him.

I still don't think we take Rayner. I've never thought of him as the clear cut best player in the draft, reminds me of Brisbane's last #1 pick. I think he could be another who never realises his full potential. Although I expect Brisbane to take him, and pick up his Jets teammate in Fogarty at #15. The smart money would have to be on LDU/Dow at #2, and Cerra/Brayshaw at #5.

13. Adelaide - Ed Richards
14. Sydney - Aidan Bonar
15. Brisbane - Lachlan Fogarty
16. Western Bulldogs - Jack Higgins
17. Richmond - Jarrod Brander
18. Brisbane - Jack Petruccelle
19. Gold Coast - Zac Bailey
20. Richmond - Lochie O'Brien

North and Collingwood are the wildcards in the first round. North could go any of Stephenson, Cerra, Brayshaw or Fogarty - assuming the top 3 is what I have it as. And Collingwood would have a big call between Naughton and whichever of the top 5 midfielders falls to them.

Nah, thats the Aussie bloke. Phil Taylor, without looking it up, is something like a 6 time world champion. His ability to perform under pressure is legendary and something that Chris Mayne could only dream of.

Phil "the power" Taylor has won the wotld title 16 times. Sixteen!. The full bogan Brett Lee is Simon "the wiz" Whitlock. And the big up and coming Aussie player is Kyle Anderson. Indigenous and from Perth. Supports the Dockers too!

Just going to throw it out there, flight risk for top draft picks (if taken by Freo) - lets try some rankings (most likely to leave to least likely):
1 - Rayner (ego)
2 - Cerra (metro kid - girlfriend)
3 - Stephenson (mummy's boy)
4 - Brayshaw (option to play for Melbourne as part of our Hogan trade)
5 - Dow (whatever)
6 - LDU (think he'll do okay in Perth)
7 - Fogarty (he'll love Perth - 100x better then Adelaide)
8 - Naughton (will save on relocation costs)
9 - Allen (will be our best forward option from round 1)
10 - Hayes (someone likes me?!)

Thats what I'm getting at, heavho previously said "I would say Brisbane has indicated to Freo who they will take and Freo knows who we will get."

I can't think of a reason why Brissie would give a toss what other teams are planning

Impacting now should be least of their considerations, you want the best players; Not a Powel-Pepper type bustling around bumping chests and getting 20 kicks straight out on the full every game. If a tall is the best player on the board at pick 5 you take them.

A tall won't be the best player on the board at Pick 5. That's my argument. Not best player available versus needs etc..

I’m mates with a bloke whose son plays NBL at a very unappealing city, but he met a girl & he is a 36er for good.
He’s a starting centre & was only ok for his local club in an SBL final they won.
Funny thing is the whole family are HUGE wc fans, despite being located in Canning Vale, but despite that handicap, they are ok.
Long story short.
Get the boys hooked up with a local girl WITH STRONG ROOTS, not one who wants to fly away.
Or a guy partner of course. Oops, old dude here didn’t think of that
