I never did mind VFL Park.
Plenty of memories going there - mostly good ones.
I always drove to Waverly - took public transport once. My mates and I had a spot where we'd free park just off Springvale Rd. From there it was about a 20 min walk to and from the ground, but hey - we were young and that never did bother us. A 20 min. walk was much better than 30-60 minutes (crowd size depending) getting out of the carpark.
It was a hassle to get there, but I lived by the Hurstbridge line, so compared with the G, all grounds were a hassle to get to for me.

I think that, right there, was always the main problem with VFL Park: it was not - and never would be - as good a ground to see a footy game at as the MCG. Or PP for that matter! (But only a Carlton supporter would say that. :D)

I recall it did have a great Carlton man's name, Sir Kenneth Luke, on a grandstand. Had a lot to do with setting up the place and died the year after it opened.

I have never bought into the G.Ablett jnr hype, just never really warmed to him.
Neither do i ! Comes across as a selfish little campaigner to me . I'm sure we wouldn't have Lange had Gazza stayed at the suns .. 150 atleast games from Lange and the cats will be lucky to get 15 from Gazza.:D

True Gazza may have pushed Lange towards the Blues and I think he'l be a fine contributor too.
As for Gary he's a marvoulous player wish we could have been so lucky to have such a champion of the game.

Blues have had plenty of champions just not sure where to start to name a few .:p

300k retainer plus private mirror-walled change-room stocked each week with 1 case of Evian, 2 cans of Mr Sheen, 1 copy Sporting Excuses For Dummies (hardcover) and 1 silver hook for dad's unwashed jockstrap. Pretty sure...........

And a cassette tape of him calling for the ball in 40 different ways is playing on a loop at every other locker.

Wouldn’t want anyone to miss an opportunity for a one-two due to not recognising his voice as he skirts around the back of play.

And a half a dozen hand selected players to form his " stay away from the others" organisation for his prayer group bible study.

Zac Smith was in the "prayer group" while at GC and became a close friend of Ablett - so there'll be at least 2!!!!
