My intention wasn’t for my post to sound elitist at all. I’m genuinely interested to hear people’s story. Looking back though, I can see how some of my posts sound but it honestly wasn’t my intention.

If I’ve offended anybody, I’m sorry.
I hope so...cause you’ve made yourself look like a twat!

Good on you for sticking with them. To also go to training and the reserves game is diehard in my view. Can you still see success even after the past three weeks? If yes, I’m interested to hear why because I’m struggling and it hurts because I’ve always had faith. I’m also realistic. I know we have a young side and losing Doc and Gibbs doesn’t help but I feel like something has changed since the Richmond game. It might just be that the season is in full swing now and other teams are really starting to hit their straps and we can’t compete at that level just yet because of our young side. Thoughts?

I don't see myself as "diehard". Just a supporter.

If you read my posts I am fairly consistent about where I see our position. There is nothing happening now that wasn't expected but we are well on the right track

What enjoyment do people get out of watching us at the moment?

Genuine question. 3 weeks running with absolutely **** all to enjoy

Knowing that I can see it for what it is, and on the other side of it all, we should have a team that is genuinely challenging for flags.

Kudos to you! You made the trek from Perth. Tough match to sit through.

Luckily jugs of beer were in supply....

Venturing to the MCG on Saturday and we’ll need to lift vs a dangerous WCE.
Then Adelaide Oval again vs the Crows a fortnight later but this is not looking like a well thought out travel itinerary.

Can’t remember the last win I was at, Eagles Home game I’d say with Armies shephard or a rnd 1 Richmond game (don’t do Dockers games but should have snuck in there lately in hindsight).

Couldn’t go for another team, just ride it out and enjoy highlights throughout a game it is for now.

I’m yet to watch last nights game but will do anyways despite the news (say you’re a Carlton supporter and it was quickly conveyed re: don’t want to see the scores then).

Not taking anything away from you. We have many supporters around Australia like you but no offense, it’s different when you actually go and watch pretty much every week.

Do you think you are more emotionally invested in CFC than myself, just because you attend games? At least you cant break a LCD TV going to a live game so I suppose you save some dollars there ......

BTW this thread is starting to remind me of something ... can't quite put my finger on what that something is .....

Broken tv remotes, smashed tvs ,broken fists, holes in walls and embarrassing myself making an absolute arse of myself in front of family and friends yelling at a tv over my football team does that make me a die hard or a dick head

Please don't ask my wife that question .... :'(:(

A little from column A and a little from column B

That’s sounds way too familiar...

You have the luxury if going to games every week because of where you live whereas others don't due to geographics.

That does not mean anything in terms of being die harder than anyone.

It's not necessarily geography either.
I live in Melbourne, but hardly ever go to the footy because I have a family of which I am the main breadwinner.
Three kids, all of school age and the expenses just keep coming at us. The family budget is so tight, our account is usually emptied within 48 hours of each payday, once bills and groceries are covered. How much we can spend on food is mitigated by what else has to be paid for that fortnight.
So indulgences like club memberships and Foxtel are just not going to happen at this stage. Maybe when the kids have finished school and started working. I'll be an old man by then!
I try to get to a couple of games or so a year with the kids, who have all been successfully indoctrinated, thank God. We attend afternoon games where we can get in on the day by gen. ad. (So that rules out any "blockbusters" which are mostly played at night anyway.)

I know my situation is not unique, that there are plenty of diehard fans like me, who just can't afford the time and/or money to attend the footy every week. I wish it were otherwise. The days of my youth when I was going every week seem like a long time ago now. (Probably because they are... :()

But I will always be a diehard Blues fan. Have always supported the Blues and always will. I won't suffer anyone telling me otherwise.

There’s really no guarantee of that though. Look at St Kilda - they rebuilt recently and have still gone nowhere. It’s a tough sell when we’re playing as badly as we are.

Much as it pains me to give Richmond credit for anything, but look at what their fans had to endure for 37 years, and they still have double our membership, even before they won the flag.
I honestly don't know how they do/did it. There's some diehard fans for you. Different kind of mentality over at Tigerland I guess.

Apparently they're more cashed up than we would have given them credit for as well. That, or they just don't eat for a month after buying their memberships...

You guys got off easy.

"Babe I understand what you mean"

"No you don't. You e never seen a flag and you've only won one flag ever and we've won sixteen so suck on that"

I used to be a full time st kilda member and go to every st kilda home game but I lived in the country so it was hard to get to games all the time and then eventually I did shift work and couldn't do it anymore.

Anyway I should have taken her phone off her when I saw how drunk she was. She even went to bay 13 even though I told her to stay away.

Also, this thread is amusing.

As ODN said, you want diehard - the members all around this country that don’t get the opportunity to go watch the boys every other week. The people that look at the fixture when it comes out, just to see if they might get two games in their state. We continue to pay, despite getting nothing in return.

Anyone that questions my support/commitment to the club, purely because I can’t get to games, doesn’t know me at all.

I actually did one season where I bought a full membership and flew down from Sydney to all our home games. Apart from being an expensive season, it didn’t make my support any greater or worse.

Watch the kids and focus on the little things

O'Brien last night showed class and skill and a hunger for the contest
Dow showed a couple of side steps and evasion skills that were first class
Fisher keeps improving
Charlie doesn't stop trying and is elite
SPS just lacks fitness. Has something special and stands out every so often
Cuningham finding a place at HB. Need stopped running last night
Weiteirng is working through a tough patch. Will be very good
Cripps is an outstanding leader in the making
Garlett has class and is getting better after a year out
Kennedy and Kruezer playing for the team whhen not fit
McKay Kerr TDK Polson LeBois Marchbank Willo Lang Pickett all to come in this year

There is a lot to like

Ive had times after games ive felt absolutely ashamed of myself the way ive acted to the point that now i just dont watch it to save myself the heart ache and embarrassment
Yeah that was me through my early 20’s. Now I’ve got to a point where I’ve conceded we’re no good and just sit and shake my head haha. Still watch the games but just don’t get as worked up watching them.
