What type of player do you see him developing into?
SANFL watchers... who's been the better midfielder lately out of Wilson and Hampton?
I think you're right in that Wilson's skills will work better at the higher level - been carrying the SANFL team and played out of position.Wilson by far.
My biggest concern, is we bring this 60m+ kicking player into our side, and yet we won;t even be able to take advantage of it because our forward structure sucks ass and there's not gonna be a single forward inside our 50 for him to kick to.
He's just going to be banging it in to a vacant 50, or down Sicily's throat all night because we will refuse to do anything about it and let Sic do as he pleases.

You used to play along side him yes?Great work Patrick Wilson. Hopefully becomes a great player for your club. Been keeping an eye on him since he missed out on the draft a few years back. All the best
I actually think if we are going to persist playing Kelly maybe we should throw him up forward in a lockdown role against Sicily. Body type, speed, size are all quite similar, and its not like Kelly's not used to the assignment, he plays it every week, he has just never done it in the forward line before. Plus he's so out of form as a defender maybe this could be a way to get him back to his best without the added pressure of leaking goals in the backhalf!Wilson by far.

That's bloody funny, made coffee come out of my nose. The AFC way. Swing the axe, hit the kids.
No accountability for under performing senior players.
Oh boy, if thats the SANFL team being carried then they are in for a 300 point drumming without him!I think you're right in that Wilson's skills will work better at the higher level - been carrying the SANFL team and played out of position.
Seems that you've just described pretty much what he's doing in the SANFL now anyway. Please don't be concerned by it, just accept it.Wilson by far.

I've thought a lot about this, too.So maybe we keep scrapping to get in and you never know

At this stage I have no problem giving him a go to see what happens. I struggle to see as a mid how he will improve though with a dramatic increase in speed and pressure at the contestI always believe that decision making (in most cases, Hampton maybe not) can be improved. Wilson is still a little raw I think. But he has a valuable weapon for an inside midfielder that we are most likely not going to take advantage of because of our poor structures and forward play of late.
Given the weather tomorrow night itll be hard to tell. SHould be a big scrap. At this stage I have no problem giving him a go to see what happens. I struggle to see as a mid how he will improve though with a dramatic increase in speed and pressure at the contest
I'm not seeing Wilson as an inside midfielder at AFL level, his lack of agility and turning circle of the Queen Mary will see him nailed regularly by any opposition midfield with a defensive mindset. His skill set would be better served on the wing or coming off the back of the centre square, he's a dead set straight line runner.I always believe that decision making (in most cases, Hampton maybe not) can be improved. So has Carlton. Fagan and Bolton probably understand Hawthorn a little better than mostI dunno, it was only a few weeks ago that Hawthorn got humiliated by Brisbane, they aren't going well really.
Neither are we I know, but weather will help us IMO and we have made decent changes, if not enough.
Firstly, I must congratulate you for reaching 50 posts without mentioning Scott Thompson.
Secondly, please provide a list of all the supercoaches over the last 30 years that have maintained winning form with between 5 and 7 of their best dozen players missing.
The selections reflect a mindset of choosing the best available players amongst the 34 available players. From the 12 players named in the Twos
Keath missed the first half of the season and is still struggling in the SANFL.
McPherson has played one SANFL game this year. All our other backmen in the Twos are top-up players.
ROB is struggling with a busted shoulder.
CEY looks cooked.
Edwards and Jarman would struggle to get a game at many SANFL clubs.
Himmelberg, Davis and Signorello have yet to play three good games in a row.
We have omitted Murphy and Fogarty because we are reluctant to play too many KIDS coming off a six day break. If they were injured you would be the first to complain.
The only true contender is Hampton. Now I would have played him in front of Mackay, Kelly or Atkins just to make a statement but do you think that Curtly is the key to a win on Saturday?
IMHO, our selectors still believe in miracles and have selected the best available team. I think we have zero chance and I would prefer to make a statement this week.
Hawthorn made sure to shut Sicily down. I highly doubt we'll do that because then we'd have to deviate from the way we want to play.I dunno, it was only a few weeks ago that Hawthorn got humiliated by Brisbane, they aren't going well really.
