Denmark have us for quality all over the park- except perhaps in central midfield- and yet we outplayed them. Hard to knock that.

Arzani brilliantly beating his man and sending in a sizzling cross only for two of the mannequins pretending to be Australian strikers to promptly trip over is the perfect metaphor for this team.

As I said after the French game, our lack of strikers makes this World Cup such an exercise in futility.

For the second game in a row we got an incredible piece of good luck from a handball and for the second game in a row we couldn't capitalize.

Getting two handball penalties in the group stage is a rolled gold once in a decade example of Lady Luck coming knocking- to get that kind of chance and not advance out of the group stage is an atrocious waste of an opportunity.

The truth is it doesn't matter how good we are in general play, and at times today we were seriously good, our starting strikers are a woeful bag of turds - the sort of 15-20 minute domination we managed in the second half is nice but it's also incredibly frustrating because every other team at this World Cup would have put the goal keeper to the sword by then.

Kruse, Rogic and Juric are leadfooted hacks in front of goal, they are a total waste of a jersey. Even Leckie, who is fast, incredibly hardworking and good in the cross, turns into a regular spud when he gets into the box.

Meanwhile Arzani is a long way ahead of any Australian player for a long time- he should play 90 minutes against Peru, not just for this team now but for the future.

With goal difference what it is we are not going to advance without multiple goals and we are not going to get goals from another dour, hard fought arm wrestle with these spuds up front, we have had more penalty luck already than we can possibly expect against Peru. With goal difference an issue we need to throw caution to the wind, start Arzani and Luongo, send Kruze, Flogich and Poorich to the end of the bench and give Cahill meaningful minutes to ensure there is a scoring threat for corners late in the games.

I'd far prefer to see us get touched up 2-0 against Peru trying to attack and win rather than fighting out another 'brave' draw whilst our genuine attacking players sit on the pine.

Played better four years ago in a group with 3 killer teams.

Same as qualifying, we ain't going to do nothing if we can't score goals and only guy who is capable of doing that is on the bench.

Yes could have lost against Danes in going for the win, but what choice did we have? With only 1 point from 2 games, obv would have to beat Peru and do so by at least a couple of goals and require results to go our way.
