Sam Collins is not good enough to be regular AFL player. Fremantle recognised that and you are kidding yourself to think otherwise.

Key position Darren Pfeiffer.

Pffeifer never took 14 marks a game average and 5 of them contested average for an entire year. Snagging 10 contested marks in a single game.

His form has been on the extreme side of good. Playing excellent games against the AFL aligned VFl clubs. If we don't pick him up, one of the many other clubs who are looking at him will.

Am I the only one who thinks M. McGovern isn't any good? He's 24 and he's shown some good clutch moments but overall hes never been a remotely consistent contributor. The crows won't miss him at all.
No, I think that too. It's laughable some of the stuff you hear on this thread but clubs do come up with what we think are strange trades.

Handy midsized third forward, would probably suit carlton behind curnow and mckay. Not worth a first rounder though

Late to the conversation so apologies if already done to death.
As to ^ Judd inferred on FC 2 mondays ago "everything has a price". Adelaide will hand over 2 1st rounders the Lever to Melb pick
and their own for Lukosius. They saw this scenario a long time ago. Get used to it.
It's not enough, Adelaide will have to pay a premium to get pick 1.

Two 1st rd picks not enough? if your right then they might throw in a player as well.
Everyone is saying they're desperate so who knows. My care factor is pretty low. More worried about Polec and Frampton.
Fear both are gone.

I think we should trade Travis Boak to Geelong.

I'm not that fussed about what the trade would be for.

Geelong have Rhys Stanley, Zac Smith, Nakia cockatoo and draft picks.

I wouldn't be asking for a huge return, but the money freed up would ideally allow us to keep polec, get a ruck (lycett, stanley, smith) and give atley the incentive to stay.

We need a change in our culture. As much as people may like trav, he has not been the leader we need.

Ha ha. Dare you to go to the Geelong board with this.

This was in the Monopoly Mail this morning,

'The Monoply Mail understands Polec was ready to sign a long term deal with Port Adelaide in the first half of the season but the club hesitated. That opened the door for rival clubs, including the Roos, who reportedly offered a four year deal worth more than $600,000 a season. '

I sincerely hope that is not true but if it is correct it is yet another monumental stuff up from Davies and co. heck, we jump the gun and offer Ken a new contract when we do not have to, then let one of our best players slip away. I hope that is only paper talk because if it is true it will be the last straw for me.

Thank you mods for the moderation, all should know that my original post was somewhat what more colorful.

the only team that has a regular supply of very young KPP coming through is Brisbane (from their Academy).

Currently they have 12 players 194cm+ on their list and they are about to get more from this draft and the next 5 drafts all from their Academy

http://www.lions.com.au/news/2017-11-08/lions-academy-2018-lists

we could get one or two KPP from these depending their age & injury History :-

Allison (8 games 3 this year) - 195cm 20yr old Allison is an athletic and versatile tall with a penetrating kick.
Skinner (1 game 0 this year) - 197cm tall 21yr old key defender/ruckman -who can also go forward and impact a game.
Paparone (55 games 0 this year) - a tall 194cm 24yr old fwd with elite endurance, he covers plenty of ground & is more of a running 'hit-up' fwd than a key fwd.
Wooller (0 games) - 194cm 19yr old Key forward Toby Wooller was taken by the Brisbane Lions with Pick No. 41 at the 2017 AFL Draft.
Ballenden (0 games) - 200cm 19yr old Key tall and Brisbane Lions Academy graduate drafted in 2017
Payne (0 games) - 197cm 19yr old Key defender and Brisbane Lions Academy graduate
Frost (56 games) - 195cm 26yr athletic backman, who has played 54 games for Collingwood

Any one of them would be better than Toumpas playing at CHB, Neade named at CHF or Darcy Ginever playing 2nd ruck for the magpies and would add to our KPP stocks
Paparone would be gettable but he is a WA boy and would probably head there. Frost you can have for free. The QLD players would be off limits … Allison, Ballenden and Payne. Wooller was only drafted last year.

I agree.

All sorts if rumours but I think our club will play hardball this year and hold him to his contract. It fits our usual practice. Who really knows though and there is a somewhat credible source saying we may trade him.

We pay the top shelf around 800k as a rule by all reports although it's very likely we broke that barrier to keep Josh Kelly in a close run thing last year. It means we risk him leaving as a RFA next year. We probably wont be able to match the offers he'll get.

Would you guys be in a position to offer more do you think?

His wishes will drive any move. We will not be pushing him out.
I think a mid first eg Pick 10 and a Second next year would be sufficient, and more then what you'd get next year with free agency. But as you will be one of the flag favourites again, you will hold him cause he is a gun.

Who I want us to go for:

Lycett - Cost us nothing but salary.
Steven May - One first rounder will get this done. We need experience in our defence.
Dylan Shiel - Pie in the sky, but exactly what we need. 9 & 10 will get this deal done and he is more than worth that.

If we got Lycett and one of these other two, I am more than happy to lose Polec.

Please no more trading first rounders.

The promising youth cupboard is bare enough as it is.

Agreed, we will . Trade maybe a bit low. Salary though? Do you think you have the capacity to make a really big offer, assuming you wanted to? Someone will I think.

I don't think we would offer any crazy $$, like a nth Melbourne, Carlton, st Kilda would? But more than what GWS would pay. In the end it is up to Dylan Shiel as to where he wants to go. My guess is one of the big vic clubs, because they offer more media opportunities, and grandfinals are played at the MCG until the year 2360.

I'm not sure. I make no claim to specific knowledge but unlike say Treloar, who did want the spotlight, Ithink he's more about the footy. I've a couple lf occasions personally where he's resented public attention. The protective blanket if a close knit club might work for him. It's all supposition though, and just a sense I have.

Absolutely it's his wishes that will decide the matter.

We will want to hold him, we did let Wilson go last year though, with a good reason. Player retention is a focus for us but that's also about how the playing group sees players being treated in all circumstances.

Two of spp rockliff wines boak or ebert have to go. Whatever brings the best value into the club. Too many similar types through the middle.

10 Saints remain out of contract: Nathan Freeman, Billy Longer, Mav Weller, Hugh Goddard, Sam Gilbert, Lewis Pierce, Nathan Wright, Darren Minchington, Jack Lonie and rookie Doulton Langlands.

He's the 4th tall at Adelaide and has taken a couple of hangers. If Carlton involve pick 1 in any way shape or form that should be charge with gross negligence and thrown out of the league.

Freeman, Longer and Goddard would be of interest, but only cheaply

If Lycett accepts Port's offer then our salary cap is not going to stretch that far.
