I think you are overrating May.

You sure you're not underrating him?

I think Collingwood supporters suffer from Comingtousitis. Symptoms: as soon as a quality player appears interested in coming to Collingwood the sufferer breaks into cold sweats and their estimation of said player drops rapidly. aka wouldntwanttobepartofaclubthatwouldhavemeasamember

Fair enough -there might be a bit of that in my comment. But I'd still rather a player of real offensive class, such as Gaff -especially if it doesn't cost us numerous draft picks. Defensive full backs are easier to find or even create. Offensive defenders -Rance, McGovern etc are much more valuable. I've never viewed May in that last category.

I can definitely see value in either approach.

May is worth a 1st round pick. Maybe add a 4th rounder or fringe player as well.

Moore is worth a first round. Maybe also a 4th rounder or a fringe player as well.

You have to be ruthless to be successful.

May makes us more successful.

People overrate draft picks imo. We don't need more kids. We need players who can take us next level.

May is that player.

Why not then Fasolo compensation and Moore compensation (Or a first and Fas compensation) seems fairer?

Weideman would be good.
Also Richards would be good.
Picken in his prime a few years ago.
Stewart would be ok.
We missed Shaw in his prime.

I'm a nostalgic romantic.

Did I miss anyone else connected to Collingwood?
Merrett’s

Pretty much what I said about JDG years ago - see what I did there?

Except Weideman has been invisible for the past few years playing VFL, whereas any mug could see that JDG was going to be a star. Yep, almost exactly the same.

Can anybody advise how Harrison Petty and Oscar Clavarino (two tall defenders drafted last year) went this year?

Petty been good for Casey.

Don't know about Clavario

Let's re-sign Moore

I'm not sold on May for the following reasons:

1. He is contracted and GC are losing Lynch, their other co-captain. This means we will have to pay steeply for May in order to secure him, rather than waiting a year and assessing whether he is still keen to move and picking him up for free

2. Although May is a good player, Dunn has shown that there is plenty of value in drafting or trading for experienced, big defenders who are capable of locking down an opponent. Our resources in my opinion would be better spent on continuing to inject pace into the midfield and forward line, or finding a genuine offensive weapon capable of stretching an opposition's defence and providing a mobile third target (i.e. Gunston).

Of the players who are available, M McGovern would fit the bill in relation to the forwards, Billings/Lonie for the mid/forward combination, and Shiel for the pure midfielder

Watched him live tonight 3rd year player and just all class, doesn't matter now anyway we are no chance of getting him.

Melbourne should look to trade Hogan to Freo/West Coast they don't need him with McDonald and Weiderman.
Yep I got that wrong. Kid can play.
