Have mentioned several times previously, in 2-3 years time the three best midfielders from the 2016 draft will be without question Taranto, Berry and Venables.

SPP is a Haselby clone. He has reached the limit of his potential already. Plus he seems to be a knob that is a magnet for wrong kind of attention.
If Hase ever got fit instead of staying chubby he would have been a real star of the game. Like ol' Aaron Trahair... What a waste!

Four disposals but forever a premiership player, at 19 as well.

I remember one play all game involving him. He got his arms loose against two Collingwood players on the wing and released the handball

Had a couple of nice tap ons too, one leading to the goal for Cripps. Only played 55% tog, disposal stats aren’t everything!

We didn't pick up SPP because he is a shit bloke. Club got a good look at him at EP and decided that he was toxic. We have a brilliant culture which is built on success, may it continue.

This is why this flag is so much better than 2006.

Dockers happy to pick up Bennell and Conca and Power happy to pick up SPP and Rockliff. Lord help us if we follow them.

Venables looks a star. Love his decision making and composure

Unfortunately was poor in grand final but game won so that's more important . Even the elite players have off days

Next couple of years will be interesting both guys , wonder if the go home factor will arrive for Venebles . Hope he's injury free coming seasons so he get to maximise potential

AFL coaches votes had SPP as best * young player based on 2 years in system .

Award actually went to Tom Stewart an All Australian this season but Stewart 25 year old , SPP second and top of 2016 draft year .
Maybe they need to amend award name . Tim Kelly will pick up award next year he will also be 25 year old

He only played 68mins in game. So just over 2 quarters. Hard to get into the game with that. And was on bench when we were dominating in last.

Still had 13 pressure acts.

He'll be fine, a few similarities to another player in his 2nd season in a grand final who went on the have a good 166 game career.

In the 2005 Grand Final Sam Butler had 2 touches, 2 tackles. It was his 26th game after playing 12 games in his debut season.

Venables played his 15th game in the grand final, and i still remember him doing some important things.

Chicken egg what came first ? You don't get much game time if your playing poorly, more so close GF . Sentiment , development , feelings out the window it's whatever you need to do to win. Turns 20 very soon so a youngster with a Prem behind him who can only improve . Must be great to have that medal so early in career, is he Eagles youngest Prem winner ?

May have been only 4 possessions but his intent on grand final day showed you he’s elite. He attacked contests like a veteran, did the small things right like tackling, chasing and pressuring. Immensely impressive and I think we’ve got something special here - may not be a top 5 AFL midfielder but he’s going to be a star for the eagles if we can retain him.

There was a contest I think were he won the hard ball, drew two players, took the tackle and released someone else for a I50 - got pretty excited by that.
