With the demolition of the Sydney Football Stadium next door, the SCG will endure a workload not seen there for many years. FOUR football codes will play there, and if the 1st of 26 games there this season is any indication, administraors will need to think fast and do something to prevent a repeat of what happened on Saturday.

Check the table below and have a look at the congestion in April

Round 6 needs to be moved to Spotless for player safety and spectator comfort.

Otherwise meh.

That is unlikely. Either way though, Round 6 is 2 months away, so it might be better by then. Unlikely, but possible.

Games at the SCG this year include

Round 2 vs Adelaide
Round 4 vs Melbourne
Round 6 vs GWS
Round 8 vs Essendon
Round 10 vs Collingwood
Round 12 vs West Coast
Round 14 vs Hawthorn
Round 15 vs Gold Coast
Round 17 vs Carlton
Round 19 vs Geelong
Round 23 vs St Kilda

FOr most of those games it would be impossible to move them.

So where do the Waratahs go to after three games and why can't they go there sooner?

Why in the hell do St George play one match there? Why can't the Roosters just go and play at one of the other NRL grounds?

There are no other NRL grounds in the East. The closest is Parramatta and Olympic Park and they don't want to play there as they say it is too far for their supporters to travel.

Concord is still there, and around 15k would be ample for today's super rugby crowd.

I think the Grand Final if Sydney FC host is booked for there as well
I have updated the table in the original post to include the two A-League games to be played at the SCG in April. And yes, it is possible that A-League grand final might also be scheduled there for Saturday May 18 or Sunday May 19.

Honestly why the **** are the Sydney rugby codes playing there?

There's a number of other rectangle stadiums in the city that are viable options.

The turf isn't the problem, it looks magnificent, it's ****ing rugby thats the problem.

The problem is that Sydney's transport is so bad that an extra 30km drive is a massive issue, so someone that usually goes to Allianz Stadium suddenly being forced to go to ANZ or the new Western Sydney Stadium will simply not go.

WARATAHS HOME GAMES

McDonald Jones Stadium - round 7
Sydney Cricket Ground - rounds 4, 6, 10

Why can't the Roosters just go and play at one of the other NRL grounds?
SYDNEY ROOSTERS HOME GAMES

I lived in Sydney for 5 years.

Moore Park isn't exactly easy to get to either.

The fact of the matter is, the turf isn't a problem for the Swans, it's a bowling green, the problem is a Rugby Union scrum on turf designed for a test cricket match.

There's a reason ANZ stadium's surface is dogshit, it's because it's rough and tough enough to handle rugby..

The ground staff must be having a heart attack just after a cricket summer watching the Rugby codes destroy it.

Thankfully the SCG doesn’t have to have the number of games played there that the MCG or Docklands do and instead has a cute little 26 game schedule.

That is true, though it is vaguely close to Central Station which helps.

Just to show how bad Sydney's traffic is I am going somewhere new tomorrow, and I am leaving that place at 3pm. It is a 39km trip and google maps tells me that it is going to take a minimum of 75 minutes to get there, and that is the fastest of three routes it gave me. Another route was closer to 100 minutes.

Having lived in Sydney for 10 years - Watch the Number 4 Football Code likely get shunted to other grounds. If the fans on here living in the AFL bubble do not know the number 4 Code do some research and it isnt the 2 Rugby Codes or Soccer Football.

That's not too dissimilar to Melbourne really.

Tullamarine to Springvale is around the same distance and google maps says 100 minutes leaving at 3:00pm tomorrow.....

AFL is much bigger than the A-League in Sydney, and reasonably bigger than Rugby Union too.
