I'd do Gresh more 50/50 just because he is so creative around stoppages, which is something we lack. But we would be a much better side if we could play Billings and Gresham majority of the time in the forward line.

If we are going to come even come close to apremiership ,then those 2 need to play forward 80%.
Their class in the forward line and crumbing to King etc is vital.

It is demonstrably weaker because you have the three teams who currently hold #2, #3 and #5 all indicating they want to split picks ie: trade down.
Plus you have the team that currently holds #10 seeking permission from the AFL to be able to trade it.
Tell me which strong, or even reasonably mild, draft has that ever happened before?
Where four teams want to trade out of the top 10 picks?

watching the state champs the WA team won this year but in all honesty it was one of the weaker WA teams ive seen so i was pretty shocked to see them take it out ... that to me says a lot about the talent in this years draft ...

There is no accountability and no repercussions for mediocrity and failure at St Kilda. It’s like the blind leading the blind and now we’re heading into a trade period looking to offload top 10 players to bring in, what, maybe 1 guy who isn’t a spud?

Why are people so salty on here? You talk like you work at the club and have knowledge about what is actually going on. From the end of last season. We have made progression as a club this year. Most decisions made by those in charge have helped us improve. I don’t remember a time we have been this strong off field in people running the club. The media doesn’t rip into us any more like they used too. so that is a sign we have strong campaigners.

All these people including roughhead. Are not going to join a team were they don’t think success is at the end of the road. I don’t see why you wouldn’t back the club in right now over the trade period. They believe we are onto some thing and have a team that can win it.

Discuss the trade period but don’t sit there abusing people for stuff that hasn't even happened yet. There is a reason it is their full time job and we are commenting on bigfooty

Nah, not going to need them there. Anything kicked to King is not going to get to ground for the crumbers

While I think all three will be better forwards in the long run than Bruce, I worry about King being up on the oppositions best defender from day 1 and it hurting his development. Bruce is the perfect shield for King for the first few year of career while he gets size and adjusts to the speed of the game.

Agreed, quite the deep end for King to be thrown into. I know we all have great expectations for the kid but jeez, the pressure of being the number one forward as a skinny young lad who hasn't played a senior game would be immense.

Would be ironic if we ended up in the same situation that Footscray are seemingly wanting to get out of now, though with a much weaker midfield making it even harder for the kid.

To all those so happy to be rid of Bruce I have one thing to say about your long term plans for our forward line. Max King has just recovered from an ACL and is now rehabbing a syndesmosis injury. More importantly he has played zero games.

Whilst I share your optimism about his talent, I'd rather have seen 20 games from him before changing the status quo.

Paddy Mc to be the next Plugger, anyone ?

there's nothing to suggest the new list manager knows what he is doing. this is his first full season from memory.

this will be his biggest call. trading bruce and carlisle. bringing in hill and ryder.

he's either going to look good, or look like an absolute idiot.

Ryder is a place holder. Worth nothing longer term. It's a bandaid an may make us look good for a year but will be over quickly.

I’ll be watching the NFL this week which will take my attention away from St Kilda but really how long do we need to wait.

Yeah big as for the kid when he hasn't even played a game yet.
Only thing I can see is they are moving Battle forward to replace Bruce , thus the reason for getting Kieth.
But who knows what they have planned , one thing for sure if Carlisle or Bruce where integral parts of the team they wouldn't be getting moved on.
Why , I don't know - did they have a falling out with the coaches , they well could have , but at least they are being ruthless which I have not seen for a while considering we are most probably losing - Steven , Brown and Newnes.

I fully expect some surprise announcements.

By the looks they need currency in draft picks to get a few of there targets over the line.
No doubt they would have set there plan and doing whatever they can to get it done.

We haven't done much yet, we had a better performance with late picks and won a few more games but still lack high end players and have no plan to find them. We look like getting Hill who is probably just A grade but will lose Stuv and Bruce an A and B grade player. Not really seeing anything majorly better. Lost Richo who may or may not have been the major issue, kept Libba who has been there for a long time and was 2IC in our worst ever drafting era.
