I give him a 0.2% chance of doing this but getting us to a GF this year is his only shot at keeping supporters inside. Beating West Coast and losing to Richmond by a point in a prelim still wouldn't cut it, because of the nature of this loss from top spot (sh*t the bed early and fail to pull it back). If we by a miracle make it to the GF and win awesome, but if we have a CS led straight sets or prelim exit, surely, SURELY he must be sacked!?
In 2013 in the qf I thought it was close to a scackable
offence leaving Hawkins out...since then he has been pathetic, leave Stanley out against an AA Rickman, play a FB against him, losing finals in the 1st qtr, I know u might think this is a rant (and i don't care) but SURELY he has to go if we don't make the GF? It is unacceptable given our h+w record, ladder position to allow this to continue to occur.
Thoughts?
P.S. I'm happy to camp out at KP and demand he goes if the unthinkable occurs, who's with me?
Nice...Ross and 'unsaid other' seem to have similar games plans too.Definition of a professional AFL coach:
someone who can - by way of media savvy and painting the club board into a corner - can stay on 3 years (minimum) after it would have been sensible to move him on.
Ross Lyon is King. Anyone else we know?

Thanks for saving me a seat, guys, sorry I'm a few years late.
I'm done, club isn't getting a single dollar from me until he is gone
7 bloody finals series in a row we've seen the same meek predictable s**t, the message either isn't getting through, or is wrong.
Time to move on while we have a chance at success
Must be time for a contract extension!

Completely agree.Well, Chris Scott did specifically mention that he thought we'd be a better team next year, so there's that ...
I think Scott himself knew the score from about halfway through the 2nd quarter tonight - the style of football he is imparting to our list is not standing up under Finals conditions. The denouement of this whole debacle will take place next week against a mature West Coast side.
IMO we need to hit the draft hard with our Tim Kelly picks and consolidate the next generation of Geelong footballers, who are an already surprisingly diverse and reasonable bunch considering the lack of genuine investment in youth over the past few years.
consider:
Ratugolea
Henry
O'Connor
Clark
Parfitt
Narkle
Miers
..if we hold onto our own 1st rounder for once this year, and keep hold of hopefully 2 Tim Kelly 1st rounders, then we've got a chance to build a fresh, unpredictable core of players, hopefully with a fresh coach and direction.
Maybe a Constable or an Okunbor might kick on, too.
The club really needs to develop a strategy for replacing Tom Hawkins, Joel Selwood and adding an AA-class ruckman in order to provide some real substance to a re-tooling/re-imagining/rebuild.
Who are the four muppets?

Completely agree.
The Kelly situation has been a big win. Got us one last (failed) attempt at a flag with Gaz, Hawk and co for cheap. Now we can upgrade to two fresh first rounders.
I doubt the club do this but I would consider trading another 2 to 3 out that have solid currency. Duncan, Guthrie, Kolo, Menegola - a few of those could land some second or third rounders.
Ablett and Taylor retire this year. Hawkins and JS maybe next. Not sure if JS would go this year but it could be the best thing. Henderson can replace Taylor for a year but we do need to look for one big KPD long term.
Don't bring in any free agents or tradees above 25.
Constable and Narkle are ready for full years. Parfitt permanently midfield. Cockys last chance to see if his body will hold up. Danger leading them and maybe Dahl gets moved up there as another more senior player as his forward capacity is limited.
Time to give Krueger a red hot go. How about Stanley for a full couple of years too instead of in and out. Draft a ruckman and Hawkins replacement in the mean time. That and a prolific mid are the priorities with first round picks.
Turn over some of the assistant coaches right away as I doubt Scott is going anywhere. But with the above changes, a new head coach guiding them in 2021 is our best hope.
Time to move on and refresh.
I and a few others called it a terrible terrible mistake and look how its playing out. There was NO reason to sign him before finals - the Melbourne slamming should have been a big enough wake up call to move him on. The guy believes his own BS and simply refuses to adapt and change the way the team plays. We fall to absolute shit in finals - 30 something points in 3/4 of football ffs... His zone is the worst I have seen as well - think's his shit doesn't stink. The person who signed up Scott to this 3 year deal needs to be sacked immediately? Who was it?
Willing to concede in relation to the context of Scott's response, Nankervis Bros; however even if invited to speculate as to the health of the list in 2020 I still wasn't particularly comfortable with his response - sounded suspiciously like a rationalisation to me; not very on-script for an AFL coach to be looking beyond 'this week', particularly when there is a final to be played - and to be looking as far ahead as next year is quite an unusual bit of forecasting at this time of year.
The bit about 'being in the moment' rang particularly hollow given CS already has an eye on the team's prospects in 2020.
Still; you are right that perhaps he was cornered into his response by an unusually cunning journalist.
As to comparing reactions if Buckley had said the same thing; personally I barely pay any attention to what an opposition coach says so it is moot (to me) really - the words of the head coach of the club I support is all I really care about, and if I'd heard Buckley speculating as to his team's improvement in 2020 I'm not even sure how I'd react.
I'm not particularly strident on this matter, but the quotes did give me pause.
Anyway; if we win on Friday who cares what was said in the lead-up, if we lose though the last thing I want to hear about from Chris Scott is how the club is in great shape for 2020 ..
Has to walk. Unless by some miracle we win the next 2 games.
