Toast Thank you Paddy McCartin

Iirc he went to a specialist and a lot of his symptoms were brought on by eye spasms or similar (might be a bit more complex than that). My understanding is that he has undergone significant rehab training to overcome the spasm effect, which in theory reduces / removes the symptoms.

There's experts out there with much more clue than I in this
I hope your right and im totally wrong

Likelihood of 38 +/- players on lists next year. Can't see a place first up for Paddy on any list.

Most likely way if he was fit would be to play supplementary league and then get picked up in the 1,2 or 3 pre/mid season draft they will have to have next year to allow for injuries on such small lists.

I just don’t see the point from a talent perspective. He played maybe 1 good game and that was it. He didn’t light the world on fire in the games he played. He’s not the next Plugger or even the next Tim Membrey. I’d rather play Battle. More upside to Battle I reckon.

Thats closer to the truth , even without his issues i doubt he gets a game with us

After what he has gone through- blind freddy can see the guy is more hungry and committed to being a pro footballer than the rest of our list combined.

Given our team have looked at times pretty unperturbed with dismal performances over the last 8 years of no finals... redrafting (for peanuts cost) a still young former number 1 draftpick who is desperate to play is a complete no brainer.
He's shown enough talent wise to suggest he is an AFL player- that is all that is required at this point because he will cost us nothing.

Of course we will bring him back on the list- his potential will wipe the floor with anyone else we would plan on taking in the pre or mid season drafts.

Everything i hear from Ratts including his Facebook thing today points to us taking him if he is passed fit

He plays like a pick 40 player. Nothing even close to elite. Not his fault. Our fault for taking him. If we need a pick 40 we take him if we don’t then we don’t. What position would he even play?

Der ..... half back flank like the rest of the team. 🤭

I think his main issue is fitness. If he can lose a bunch of weight and get properly fit he could play a membrey type game, but without that we'd just need a really dominant midfield to make the most of his skillset (which we don't have and won't get any time soon)

I wish Paddy all the best with his health and life going forward, but....
"it's a no from me"

He was tracking ok, except he just got too many dead knocks. We also probably played him too early in the seniors.

If he can get back to it, we'd be silly not to pick him up. Also if we don't and someone else does he'll become a star and the st Kilda curse will continje

Utter crap sorry. Barely had a run at it. Would have been a very good player if not for injury.

Based on what? That he was taken at pick one? Very good usually means you have something elite. Name one Simple to say he would have been a very good player but easier to say he wouldn’t based on everything we have seen. Emotive though.

To me he might still make it but he's probably 50% likely if you were generous. The role he plays is a lead up tall forward who doesn't seem to have many other tricks. He's average on set shots, slow, low endurance and potentially physically limited by his diabetes. I think when we took King we had replaced him. Membrey is our first picked lead up tall forward. Battle who has shown a lot more can't get a game. We recruited Dougal Howard to play back while still fantasising about Ban King. We have Marshall pencilled in as a forward ruck not full time ruck and with the structure that Ratts like we carry a second rotating ruck. Also have Carlisle, Wilkie, Clavarino, Austin and Joyce in reserve as well as Brown and Ryan Abbott. Marsh and Roberton are both capable of playing tall if needed.

We don't need more KPs until we sort out our midfield. We just have to start finding elite talent through the mids. Everything else is a waste of time until we do. I think on paper we have close to the worst list in the AFL. Marshall is our only close to top tier player then guys like Gresham and Clark who are promising but even GC has several of those, then good but not elite players like Membrey and Hill.

His kicking for one was close to elite.

I've seen enuf. Eeeeeelite

Able to crash packs and mark. Very good marking below his knees. Nice acceleration on the lead. Very strong in one on one wrestling contests.

Set shots average, but field kicking pretty good and made him a great kick going inside 50.

Proper forward footy intelligence.

Never got to really see him under the new 6-6-6 setup rules. Especially with a St Kilda team that can win centre clearances.

Why wouldn’t we give him a shot? I don’t think he’s going to be demanding a 5 year contract. He’s certainly going to have more immediate impact than an 18 year old long shot rookie.

It makes sense to me to give him one more crack at it if his doctors are clearing him.

What has he shown? That's the point. Other than a desire to play he doesn't have a whole lot going for him. He's slow, has amateur leading patterns, doesn't know how to get separation on his defender, and isn't tall enough or strong enough or smart enough to body his opponent in a 1v1.

Jon Anderson (well known Geelong supporter) amazingly suggests the cats are the best fit for Paddy

Feck off. We've done them enough favours
