Michael Keaton in talks to be brought back as Tim Burton's Batman in the Flash film.

Not sure how it'll all pan out, but hugely ambitious.

So basically like the rumours of what Marvel are planning to do with Multiverse of Madness and have Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield meet Tom Hollands Spider-Man.

Throw all the money in the world to Bale please. I just want a cameo if they are doing this....though he wont do it either way is my guess.

Flashpoint feels like something you would do in a sequel to establish Barry's backstory first but doing it first up can also make sense if you have Barry just discovering he can time travel so ofcourse the first thing he would do it fix the past.

Maybe do 3 hour movie in 2 parts or is that cramming too much in?

Spend the first 45-60 mins with back story, then time jump post JL for Flashpoint.

You can prob do it in 2.5 hours it just depends what they want to do. I have not read the comic but I assume the animated movie basically follows the same plot and thats a pretty big movie. I guess the closest thing I can think of is Civil War but how do you do that story in Flash's first up movie. For me it prob not a leap becuase I watch the show etc. I just wonder if its too much for people that dont now Barry Allen at all. It could be amazing if they get it right because they have the pieces all there, but the casting of Keaton as Burton Batman tells me they arent strictly following the existing story, they may be going in a totally different direction.

From memory, the Flashpoint arc was 60+ issues. I missed a few here and there, the Booster Gold stuff primarily. From what I recall though the animated movie is very authentic to the comics, they’re almost like for like. It was a damn good movie too, DC nails the animated depictions (Assault on Arkham was way better than Suicide Squad).

Anyway, to flesh it out properly I’d think it would need to be 2.5 hours+. Would doubt they’d devote 2 films to it but wouldn’t mind it either. However as you said, it will probably draw on a few things from the comic arc but then move in other directions.

Rumours swirl of Jeffrey D Morgan reprising his role as Thomas Wayne, which would be something. Not sure how’d I’d feel about the Martha arc in this, given we’ve just had Joker as well. That may be too much.

Keaton overseeing things in cameo appearances opens up so many possibilities. News and announcements are obviously very slow now in this covid environment but I’m really hoping this is true.

Whispers are Bale could be talked back into playing batman in the "multiverse batman role" that Keaton has been slated for, if Keaton doesn't want it

As much as I love the Bale/Nolan films, I’d say WB wouldn’t want to muddle things up too much with Pattinson as Batman for the foreseeable future. He and Bale are perhaps too close to each other in age to co-exist in the universe like that.

Maybe that’s just me. Would love to see a Bale cameo though in some respect. However Keaton as the Batman Beyond type role would be magnificent, ideally.

Ive always said that I wanted for the Bale films to stand on their own separate from any other continuation because that Nolans vision was so grounded and if they continued it with superman now coming into it would not feel right. But I would be ok with him being part of a multi-verse even if it is just a cameo. In fact I think I would just prefer a cameo so they can keep the ending of Rises in tact and that he retired peaceful and happy.

And I do honestly think that role would prob suit Keaton more. Everyone will kinda want Keaton to suit up again at one point though not sure how that will look because of his age.

Jay Olivia is a fantastic director, all the work he’s done for DC animation films have been great.

Did he do Apokolips War? I liked that one. I forget the continuity on those so was suprised by the ending with Barry.

Morgan has been vocal about this desire for that role for a while now, but honestly I dont see it happening because we have a different director now and Snyder is not in charge of the universe anymore. Also Morgan is more of a TV star now which is why they are looking for the likes of Keaton or perhaps Bale to fill in that Thomas Wayne role so to speak, by role I mean as a mentor to Barry not actually playing TW.

Who would have thought after all the delays etc all these possibilities that The Flash movie could really set up the DC movies if they get this right. It could be truly epic if they nail this. The more I think about it the more I think it could be done in 1 movie as the Amazons and Altantians have already been established.

Read a suggestion that they’ll use Keaton’s role to set up a further Batman Beyond film.

Hard to know how much of this is wishful thinking from fanboys but Keaton back as Batman would be awesome. Obviously his Joker is Jack Nicholson who ain’t coming back in that role, but plenty to do with it.

Given the kid in a candy shop approach the DCEU has taken, wouldn’t be surprised if all of this imploded and we got something different.

If Keaton doesn’t work, doubt we will get Kilmer or Clooney 😬

I have no idea who any of them people are.

Lots of side characters throughout the DC universe mostly. Certainly not household names but they do slide in and out of various stories. Most prominently in The Flashpoint arc (which is what the The Flash film is supposedly set on).

Black Adam’s film is rumoured to include The Justice Society of America characters (which was later rebranded to be The Justice League, confusing I know). But those founding members include Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Atom etc.

I mostly meant the actual actors, but yeah a lot of the characters are unknown to me too.

You'll probably be the right person to ask actually, glenferry23 and I know this isn't the right thread for it but here goes. I love Batman, but don't know much about him and the universe outside of the movies and any video games I've played. I downloaded every single Batman comic with the intention of reading them but I just cant read the comic style. I am currently watching the animated series. What do you recommend I read/watch to learn more about the Batman universe?

My reaction to whenever I’m asked a question like this :D

In all seriousness though, completely understand. Comics aren’t for everyone. Many of them I’ve only read once as I much prefer graphic novels (which often get confused for comics but are longer and more complex in style).

The animated series is fantastic and was ahead of its time. In a way it laid the foundation for the “dark, gritty” style of comic book films we now see. That’s a great start. Very authentic to the source material. And was the origin of Harley Quinn.

Have you been able to read any of the graphic novels? This is a very good list, from 2012 actually but for me it still holds up. The top 4-5 are glorious.

Very very worthwhile checking out. As a Batman fan I feel you very much enjoy the expanded world it builds around him, and gets into some serious shit as well that won’t always find its way into the movies or animated series.

The Arkham Asylum novel is a particular highlight, the video games you mentioned pretty much originated from that.

And speaking of the animated series, if there’s one thing DC continually nails it’s their animated movies. Some in the above list have their own animated movies which I highly recommend. If anything my only negative to say about them is that they’re too short (Year One I felt could have been longer).

You’d probably recognise some elements of the Year One storyline through Batman Begins, Nolan reportedly was a very big fan of this.

Anyway, I could go on and on about this for hours but don’t want to bombard you. Hopefully this helps to point you in the right direction.
