Look at the video though.

He's looking in the other direction. And he also has a narrow stance, his feet are fairly close together.

Very easy to go over sideway when you have your feet together.

I think it's a free kick but he went down like there was a sniper in the grandstand. He loves a flop

Geez Norf players spend a fair bit of time playing outside the rules, it couldn’t be ignored forever and they cost themselves some scoring chances and gave us a couple.

They are a really hard team to like, seem to get away with being campaigners a bucketload more than they should. Bet none of them are embarrassed about it as I suspect their former coach expected it and their current coach condones it.

Good to see players like Setterfield and Bam Bam are really lifting when Cripps is being held (illegally you muppets, blow a whistle occasionally and it will stop). Means we are no longer needing superman to dig us out of a hole.

Good signs from most players in that 50-100 game bracket, they are the ones that will determine if we play finals or not.

Can anyone please post a screenshot of Teague ever going off his rocker in the coach's box ? Most easy going/laconic coach we have had in well, probably since the 19th century.

Mentioned it before, but I am still amazed how cool, calm and collected, even when our players start to lose the plot.

So wish I had the coach's composure, I crack it is I misplace my keys.

Clearly the boys are responding to Teague and his positive/upbeat demeanour.

Yes, he probably should have switched Weitering onto Dixon last week, but he has unwavering faith and trust in the boys, and clearly the feeling is mutual.

In all honesty, I haven't had so much complete confidence and trust in a coach of the Navy Blues since David Parkin.

Exactly.
All he does is produce mindless drivel.
In my view he has a huge sample size problem. He reacts to whatever happens that week as if it’s “been happening for years”. He looks for no trends. Just jumps on that week’s evidence. He does it so he has something to talk about. Because he has no true insight.

Yep spot on and the attention on Cripps is freeing up Setters and especially Kennedy who we just need to use more especially when they push forward and get free, killing it.
Looking at the eagles game we will really see where Kennedy and setterfield are at -- as they won't tag cripps --

I still laugh thinking of someone's post after the Stk game-- said our coach is a sociopath things are going bad and he's sitting there with a grin on his face 😂

Well I clearly had blinkers on while watching the game.
As I clearly did not see anything of Newnes except his mistakes and him not chasing.
I did not even see his second goal. Only one goal of his was included in the club's highlights for this round.

I will endeavour to improve my future viewings.

NORF were lucky. no doubt. Simpson in the back for their last goal? Please. Where was the HTB just prior.?Nothing new here but disgraceful umpiring. Not so much disgraceful as completely inept. A complete lack of awareness or understanding in so many decisions. Umps have been an issue over the last few years but really come to the fore this season across the comp. I've stopped berating them thru the TV. I just adopt a thousand yard stare in silence across the other side of the room. I expect it now.

Cunningham's having a great year. He's awareness and goal sense is fantastic. Has been the difference in a few clutch moments this year. SPS worries me sometimes. Ben's Brown first goal shouldn't have been. Pretty slack checking there and no real second effort made. A small blight I know but geez it was poor. To mark it that easy was exactly that. Back to the Teague mantra...."bring the pressure"....

Cripps is really trudging thru the quicksand at the moment. Bloody hell he tries but opp teams really throw the kitchen sink and some at him. I'm hoping he can push thru this. Love his will and primal determination.

Setters. Been saying it for ages. So composed, great awareness.

It was a good gritty/dirty win. NORF were lucky to get that close and umps tired their darndest to keep it close.
I swear Hudson was cheering for NORF too. Please.

Hopefully put the Hawks to bed and then a bye?

Negatives:
That was some of the worst of Carlton. Dodgy decision-making, failure to convert, poor discipline at key times, fragility of our the forward talls, getting in an ugly knife-fight with a crap opponent, taking the foot off the gas, switching off mentally...

Positives:
We still won! Part of going from league-worst, to improving, to mid-table (about where we are now), to being a good team is winning ugly, winning when you're below your best, etc. At least we didn't let this one slip.

56 free kicks in 64 minutes of play and they still couldn't see Cripps being dragged to the ground at a stoppage.

Yeah there is a bit of satisfaction that I was unhappy with a win after Saturday. Shows we are becoming relevant again.

I have been wrapped with Jack Martin this year but he needs to work on his set shots, I think that is about the 4th game where he has missed a set shot that would have won us the game (including his 3/4 time miss against Port but he had late shots against the Bombers and Melbourne).

Newnes did what he has been doing all year, make some massive errors that costs us badly but then pop up and hit the scoreboard or do a really important good thing. I really look forward to the day when one of our youngsters forces him from the team and grabs their chance.

kennedy is so clean - liking him.

he was very good against 2x weak opposition and poor against port who was strong opposition. i'll be very excited if he puts up strong performances against the good midfields.

seems to be a popular guy too. would be a pretty good story if he turns it around, career was close to down and out.

was a shame to see them behave like jerks.

as commentators mentioned - cuners capitalised on an utter **** up from whoever it was, no ruffling of the hair, no mouthing off. just got on with it.

as soon as north get a sniff they start clipping Cripps off the ball, mouthing off, playing shit footy.

i don't mind unsociable footy but they actually just seemed like a group of shit blokes?

Our squad's kicking skills are, overall, really pretty poor. I'd back Jack Martin as our BEST kick. Nobody is perfect, but I think we are forever in danger of keeping other teams in it/fluffing our lines due to bad choices and execution of kicking.

How to improve our skills as a team is tough. Some improvement will come from system, synergy and having the best forward targets available. But it's a problem that will be very hard to get rid of as it's all throughout our list.

Look, for example, at our best starting midfielders: Cripps, Curnow, Setterfield, Walsh. Kicking isn't a weapon for any of them, none are really any better than average, and some worse. None of them can do what Shuey or Pendlebury or Duncan do all day long. In the backline, Weiters is great for a KPD, Doc more than competent and SPS looks like a Rolls-Royce (though want to see more, more often) but the rest are again average to decidedly iffy.

I fear this will forever haunt our club until the list is significantly augmented by guys who are good kicks. There are just so few Blues who you trust that given time and space they'll kick the goal/hit the target/make the best decision. It's OK to carry some who are not great/know their limitations, but it would seem for a long time we have not prioritised these skills high enough.

Your comment re Martin is so accurate.
His I50 delivery to Newnes was so amazing, and indicates to me why he should be allowed to roam free. He needs to be the high HFF rather than camped in the F50. His field kicking is a real highlight.

That's Cunners though - bloke barely cracks a smile when he kicks a goal. Could be a bit of "Oh, that was good? I've done better..." but more likely it's just that
he's a real introvert and doesn't go for big displays of emotion.
