I'm continuing to research a project and, while I have some ideas about this, there is some stuff that only the loyals fans of each club know. So I'm after some opinions as to what were the best and worst moments in your club's history, on-field or off it.

Cheers,
E.

Best:

1997/1998 Finals campaigns, of course
1991 first game vs Hawthorn
1993 Tony Modra's 100-goal season
2002 Semi Final v Melbourne

Worst:

1993/2002/2006 Preliminary Finals losses
2006 Losing Hentschel and Ricciuto for the finals

Pies:

Best – probably the 4th flag in succession. The 1958 upset and denial of Melbourne from breaking that record would be up there.

Worst – in my time Millane’s death was a serious low point for the club. Overall I can’t think of much else in terms of single events other than that and the felling of John Greening. Losing grand finals is never good. Leaving Vic Park was sad for The Club. Denying Bob Rose a flag was unfortunate.

Would Mark Riccuito as the inaugural Crows Brownlow Medallist be in the "bests"?

At West Coast, best, obviously the three flags (dead heat between '92 and '06) and worst the two GF losses.

Outside the obvious stuff, a few other options.

Best
-Coming from 6 goals down at the final change to win our first ever game in 1987.
- <Demetriou's dopey sounding voice> And with the 3rd pick of the 2001 Draft, the West Coast Eagles select...
-Hunter's pack mark and goal to put us in front against Sydney late in the final term of the '05 QF. Up till that point we'd gone into the finals looking pretty impressive for 3 years running only to have a 3 first round exits- prior to that point, we were staring down the barrel of 4 consecutive finals losses and a serious monkey on our back.
- Consecutive Brownlows to Judd and Cuz.
- 54 pt turnaround against Geelong in '06.
- Scotty Cummings' 14 goals against Adelaide. In fact, just everything related to Scotty Cummings.
- The Bump on dermott brereton at Subiaco.
- Cousins choosing West Coast over Geelong and Fremantle when F/S eligible for all three.
- Judd re-signing at the end of '03.
- The Second Waving of the Jacket.

Worst Moments
- Windy Hill Massacre
- The First Waving of the Jacket
- Jako's knee.
- Worsfold's missing the elim final in his last year.
- Getting screwed out of home finals
- Sumich almost dying in the infamous Bulldog brawl.
- Ron Alexander's sacking, and the bitterness which followed.
- The massive flogging from Port which ended the Judge era. Actually, the entire Judge era, pretty much.

This is still the best moment in the Crows history. The arrogance of the bulldogs at half time was deplorable and in the end an embarrassment to them, talk about counting their chicken......

Worst:
  • "Black Night", the merger vote in 1996, friendships ended, the club bled.
  • 2004 implosion (including "Shane Crawford Exposed")
  • the last quarter of the 1984 Grand Final
  • the "blue diamonds" pre-season guernsey atrocity
  • everyone laughing at us when we kicked the ball sideways and backwards non-stop for 20min in 2005
Best:
  • 1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989 and 1991 premierships
  • Back to back in 1989, classic Grand Final
  • Operation Fightback and record membership in 1997, following the near merger
  • Hiring Allan Jeans as coach in 1981
  • Pinching John Platten from under John Elliott and Carlton's nose before the 1986 season
  • Jeff Kennett donning the victory jacket
  • Hawk members breaking the "Guinness" world record in 2001 for most people doin' the Y.M.C.A.

Rub it in some more mate.

(i should have thought of something clever to say like....talking about counting your heads on your body or something, but that would just sound bitter.) :)

Worst: The Blood-stained n|ggers epithet circa 1900

Best: Essendon's leadership on race issues and indigineous participation over the last 15 years

Nice touch and I have to agree. Essendon have certainly done more for indigenous footy in this state than any other club.

Worst: The Blood-stained n*ggers epithet circa 1900
The use of that word was far more common back then and didn't carry anywhere near the same stigma as it does today. I'd be far more concerned with your club's ongoing use of the name "Bombers". They are a symbol of man's inhumanity and cowardice.

Best: Essendon's leadership on race issues and indigineous participation over the last 15 years
 Yeah, Essendon really showed the world, didn't they? (Tossers...)

Best Moment: The Siren Sounding in the fading sunlight of a recent September Saturday afternoon ...

Worst Moment: The Siren Sounding in the fading sunlight of a not-quite-so-recent September Saturday afternoon ...

That, and the 91 GF, after which I was probably more gutted than '05, for it was a dominant season.

Club

Best moment: The four-successive premierships

Worst moment: Losing 6 grand finals between 1966 and 1981

Me

Best moment: 1990 Grand Final... What more can I say?

Worst moment: The death of Darren Millane, it took a long time for everyone to recover!

1989 the thretened merger and the fightback is the worst and best It showed a lot of passion how we got together to raise that much money ( with a lot of help from Magpies and Saints supporters which sould never be forgotten )

Yes, let's sit down & discuss that one with Sheeds & Derek Kickett.........

In all seriousness, I think Sheedy & Long (& others) HAVE done a lot of positive things in this area. But Sheedy & his media groupies sometimes carry on as if there weren't any indigenous players in the game before Long. I'd love to see someone somewhere query Sheedy on how he 'addressed race issues' in his playing days, or early in his coaching career when his players were on the likes of the Krakouer brothers or Chris Lewis.
