Review Please remind me why we traded Dougal Howard?

Why is he compared to McKenzie anyway, he'd be going against Clurey for a spot in the 22.

Howard is a much better one on one defender than Clurey.
Nah. That is nonsense. Clurey was best-22, while Doogs was in & out like a crab's eye! Yes, he is taller than Clurey, and potentially had a higher ceiling than him. But, at the time of his going, it would have been 50:50.

It appears from comments that Doogs wasnt very coachable. He wasnt responding to direction given him, and that is a big issue. Also, if the coaches preferred Clurey to him, then he was going to be expensive depth to keep. Then we get an offer for him of a first-rounder, that further sets up our list for the future ... it became a no brainer.

Drafted as a CHF with Logan Austin as CHB and who knows Frampton might've been seen as a Hoff MK 2.

We move on from the could'a beens and look forward to the might be's. Dooogs had a bad night and because he's not on our list anymore I really don't care...... spilt milk.
Ah Logan Austin
Generally thought he would become a gun. Now I'm surprised he hasn't been delisted yet from the Saints.

pretty harsh on him here, yeah had a bad game on one of the best key forwards in the comp where their midfield walked it out of the center under no pressure.

Jonas is one of the best defenders in the league atm but it was only last year (or the year before idk) that Ben brown kick 10 on him.

He had a stinker last night but if you put a line through a defender every time they have a stinker you'd have nothing but a list full of midfielders & forwards.. Clurey has awful games here & there every year for instance, just saying.
i hear Dan Andrews is recruiting spin doctors? interested

Before this thread dies a natural and slow death, let me do some contemplation!
Ah, the draft class of 2014, the club and supporters thought we had nailed it as we had the “Fab Four”, Dougal, Logan, Jesse and Billy.
Like all draftees they didn’t play too many games for the 2’s in 2015 but the good money was on Jesse to be the first to make his AFL debut - well that didn’t work out.
Jesse managed one game before he was delisted and ended up some where in Victoria, Dougal and Logan were both traded to St Kilda, where Logan is surprisingly still on their list and we all know where Billy went to and he still can’t get consistent games there.
I guess it happens!

Jonas on Lynch (belt the crap out of him skipper).
Macca on Jackie boy.
Clurey to be third man up/intercept marking defender (he likes to take a grab or two).
Just don't get sucked into having 6 blokes fly for the spoil and leaving the Tigers' smalls free to crumb.

Im not negative just curious.
Im definitely going for Port.
Cant stand Tigers.
Interesting to see how it goes.

Lienert looks ok. He is OOC.
Will you guys offer him something?
Scuttlebutt from the club recently that a deal was underway...

Out of contract: Brad Ebert, Martin Frederick, Jarrod Lienert, Jake Patmore, Cam Sutcliffe, Boyd Woodcock
The Power is incredibly organised for a minor premier with a flag assault in mind. Frederick and Patmore survived the first cut, but won't remain with the team in the finals and are vulnerable. Lienert is on track for a one-year deal that will probably include a trigger for 2022

Honestly, we should give Lienert the 2 years outright. He will be a Paul Stewart option at a time of shrinking list size that we can bring in to fix a problem and will at times force himself into the side on his own steam. Get it done.
