These Kiwi travellers sure have spread far and wide. If anyone is in any doubt that a travel bubble with other countries wont be a shitshow just look at this.

How do our states not talk to each other, how does our federal government not talk to the states? Always looking for a "gotcha" moment. Pathetic.

It is truly amazing how quickly it went from forget about politics lets all work together back into March to every politician taking shots at one another.

Do they realise we don't care for point scoring right now?

Yet Gyms in NSW have been operational with no cases reported at all.
Like I said he is a bespectacled bell-end who knows nothing about health. All about controlling the people and the narrative. Never about health.

I think gyms can function pretty safely. The few times I got to go you had to book 45 minute sessions this allows for the equipment to be cleaned before the next session. They also had a limit of 10 people, made sure you had two towels and had provided plenty of alcohol wipes and disinfectant sprays to wipe equipment clean after use. Hopefully not too far away from reopening.

Literally every industry could operate perfectly safely with some guidelines, even escorts (no kissing, holding hands, brushing hair, movie dates etc etc).

A case doesn't mean you are infectious or can pass it on, the PCR test can't tell you that.

A new case may be a dead piece of RNA from months ago picked up by the PCR test

If the magnification or cycles is dialled down on the PCR test you get less 'cases' if it is dialled up you get many more.

Many medical professionals recommend 30 cycles or so, but my guess is labs in Australia and other countries use 40 plus cycles which is why there are so many false negatives and not worth the paper the result is printed on, of course only cynics would suggest labs use that amount of cycles to keep the $$ rolling in, or Governments request it to keep the fear up, i wonder if one journo at one press conference has asked Sutton or Andrews or Scomo or anyone what amount of cycles they use at what labs in OZ.

My bet is zero.

Spot on with everything - and add the importance of viral load.

I’m in Europe, and there is currently a huge conversation underway regarding the accuracy and validity of PCR testing.

If people can’t see a problem with case numbers being severely inflated due to false positives and over-sensitive thresholds, then there is no point arguing with them.

Throw in the WHO stating that up to 10% of the world’s population have likely already had it, and we get back to the likelihood that this is just a severe Flu strain, that can be treated with existing anti virals.

Old people and sick people are at most risk from the flu - protect them, don’t hurt the overwhelmingly percentage of the population who will experience little or no serious symptoms.

We all get old, and the elderly die. This insane proposition that the option is to callously write off anyone over 85 is exactly that - it ignores that the demographic most likely to die from any and all medical/natural causes are old people.

It’s also extremely strange that both Asian and African countries seem to be impacted by this marginally, while European/Anglo nations are getting hit hard.

Cant remeber this happening with the flu ?

Poland has now confirmed 167,230 cases of the coronavirus and 3,524 deaths.

The ministry also said that as of Saturday, COVID-19 patients occupied 7,612 hospital beds and were using 604 ventilators, compared with 6,980 and 540 respectively a day earlier.

It is also considering building new hospitals and giving doctors incentives to treat COVID-19 patients.

You don’t remember?

That implies you were actually informed to start with :D

It is a severe flu - and the elderly are always the most at risk category from such a thing.

I too have family in regional Victoria.

They routinely state that they dislike Melbourne people because they:
  • Think they have it harder than everyone else
  • Are arrogant
  • Look down their nose at people from the country and think of them as "lil' ol' country bumpkins"
  • Lack common sense
  • Lack practical skills
  • Think they're smarter than everyone else
  • Are naive about the realities of race relations
Of course, they held these views long before Covid - and the above more typifies conversation across the Xmas dinner table.

I'm good with the 25km, but I've long viewed the "picnic" with suspicion. I am however looking forward to recommencing drinking at some stage soonish. Just a couple more weeks.

I wonder if I could have a picnic for one with 6 cans in my small esky? I'd even get a haircut

What flavour is that massive chip on their shoulders?
