Who is / was better, Michael Voss or Nathan Buckley?

Both were brilliant and both could change matches in the blink of an eye, but I think Voss because he really has scaled the heights.

Bucks, no doubt. Both are good but Bucks' best was better than Voss' best.

Actually this is a really original topic, since normally it involves Bucks Voss and Hird

Is: Bucks since he is still playing and Voss isnt

Was: flip a coin. heads=voss tails=bucks

With the Lions team around him, Buckley would have won flags just the same.

Line-ball, I reckon.

Buckley had the chance to stay at Brisbane and would have had a great team around him.
For all Buckley's many and varied talents, being a clairvoyant isn't one of them. He left the Bears, who were an absolute rabble, and then the merger occurred and formed a super team.

If you're so brilliant that you can predict the future, stop wasting your time here and head to the stock exchange.

Voss easily. He was a triple-premiership captain. Buckley never had premiership success, and was universally disliked by his team-mates for much of his early career. Even in his final playing days Buckley was often seen paying out on his team-mates at the quarter breaks. Hardly inspirational stuff. :)

Voss' best was better. Buckley's best was on display more often. I say Buckley because he was in the top couple of players every season. Voss wasn't.

When Collingwood were good in 2002 and 2003, Buckley could get 30 or more touches and they still might lose. Point is that Voss IMO was more damaging with his possesions... just look at the 2002 grand final - despite the fact that Buckley won the Norm Smith.

so in terms of possession V impact, Voss is the better player.

Plus he's a three time premiership captain, so I can't really see how you couldn't vote for him.

So you are saying Bucks stands up when the going gets tough, but when Brisbane lost, Voss went missing? ;)

I simply can't split them. Voss is seen as a better leader because he captained a triple premiership winning team. But does anyone seriously think that the Pies teams of 2002/3 were anywhere near Brisbane in terms of ability? Did Voss make them a better side through his leadership? Did Buckley make what is generally considered to be an average side better through his leadership?

If Buckley had stayed at the Lions who do you think would have captained them to their premiership succusses?

Voss of course.
