On diplomats, I couldn't find a definitive statement but it looks like:

1) we cannot force them to HQ, hence they are allowed to home quarantine

2) we have had up to 30 at any time in this situation

3) it seems we are testing them (no comment if this is absolute and if there have been refusals

This fella has been amazing during the pandemic and has probably been the most level headed data analyst that I’ve come across. The fact he’s jumped off, says plenty.

although Magnum27 its actually not a "bad" number if they are all linked to existing known cases and already isolating as a result (many of the recent positives were in iso for much of their infectious period)

We'll be locked down for winter again. The federal government has f'ked us all in the arse with their diabolical failure to handle the vaccine rollout.

"It's not a race."

F*** off.

gladys is demanding vaccine be distributed by population share, not risk

Point taken, but she's only looking after her state to be fair and has called Morrison out on a number of occasions.

The fact that our intrepid PM walked away from a deal with Pfizer last year, putting us at the back of that particular queue has been completely glossed over by the media. Yet Newspoll puts him at 53% as preferred PM this morning proving Australians are amongst the most stupid people on the planet.

The guy is actually dangerous.

Despite the Feds having ****ed the rollout up a bit, we'd be still at the behest of the TGA and even allowing for a best case scenario of supply (which would never happen no matter who was in charge!), we'd be at like 10 to 20% at a screaming maximum and these current outbreak restrictions wouldn't be any different.

But the need for zero whether in ISO or not will dictate here, no chance we get out any time soon IMO, happy to be wrong but don't see it.

The question will be if we keep recording positives (which are still small) will the Vic government have the courage to lift lockdown

They are very, very lucky we were already locked down when this second outbreak has occurred.

I don’t have a lot of confidence we will ever be told the source even if they find it.

With you on that. The Northern Beaches outbreak was mysteriously never traced to its ultimate source either...

No, they f'ked it up royally.

They have put us back months. Agreed, it makes little difference for this outbreak but the chances of locking down later on are still high. And the risk later on could have been mitigated had the rollout been conducted by a competent government that stopped thinking about self-interest for five minutes. They went all in on the locally manufactured AZ and completely f'ked us over when walking away from other options early on.

My call no chance we get out, they don't trust themselves to mange it.

Yep, that is exactly where we are at.

All of the rhetoric last year was that they would have systems in place that would allow small outbreaks to be handled so that life could go on. The systems seem relatively robust now yet they are all afraid of the dark in the Vic Government.

you are wrong

the reason they dont have a firm number is because it depends upon what the number is coming from:

- if the numbers are from unknown origins, super bad
- if the numbers are from known origins but were in community, bad
- if the numbers are from known origins and already in iso, as good as it gets

- if the exposure sites are contained and tight, good
- if the exposure sites are a dogs breakfast, we're ****ed

for an example, look at black rock. sites were very tight and contained, source was known (northern beaches), and the move from community positive to iso positive was very quick.

counter that with our current situation. When the spreader was at locations from the west to the north to the south east, plus multiple clubs and footy stadiums were on the list, we were ****ed. 15,000 primary and secondary contacts is what killed us.

lets hope... What time is the press conference?

The thing is mate, every time they find a new case they add a hundred exposure sites. If someone drives past a shop and looks at it through their closed car window it is listed. If someone with Covid looks at an outlet online from their phone, they list it. Mention a store to a mate, up it goes. And then they lock away thousands of people for each one.

They are literally jumping at their own shadows.
