No.

he has officially arrived for us. Why move him?

I know it has been a sh*t season. I know we have wildly under performed and been smashed by injuries.

but we have so much to be excited about.

I don’t think trying to manifest another midfielder by shuffling the decks is the answer.

we need another key defender.
we need a better version or Atleast a higher footy IQ of Dunstan.
We need to decide whether to keep or move Battle.

positives. Boy do we have some kids. Highmore Connolly Sharman Byrnes and Bytel all really showed something.

flip side is we saw minimal from Clark Coffield Gresham Paton.

we should be able to add Atleast 2 high potential NGA kids. Plus 1-2 that are projects.
We then get to take a top 10 pick.

the word I heard and I shot a message during the week to a few. Was that we have an interest in Riccardi.

he potentially solves the Key Back issue.
Depending on What happens with free agents we could get as many as 4 kids in the top 30. Plus max heath and Sharman in the pre season draft. This team is gonna get some good kids coming in next year and gonna look a lot different

He will get over it. That’s part and parcel of playing footy. He wasn’t playing very good footy for the most of the year and got a lot of free games.

Have it on very good authority Battle has no desire to leave. Ihave no idea as to whether the Club will lookfor a trade from their side.

That generally how it works most the time.
Billings is another who might not want to leave. But he might not get what he wants from us.

Battle regressed this year. He also wasn’t helped by playing on the wing.

however I think the true answer is that Battle needs to put his head down and do some serious work over the summer.
Coffield is another. Clark too. I’ll even say Howard.

all need massive Pre Seasons. The kind that evolves players from potential to guns.

Thank you.
That is the post I definitely needed to see today. 😊

I'd be leaving Sinclair in defence. His game is so perfectly suited to it. His strengths are his kicking, decision making and front and centre crumbing/ground balls. The first two haven't surprised me. He's always used it well wherever he's played, but hasn't found enough of it. At half back he can find enough of it and his kicking is superb. He's our best user by a long, long way. His crumbing has probably impressed me even more though. He plays the role in a bit of a unique way. Doesn't get huge amounts of handball receives. Rather, he is outstanding at reading where the ball will drop off hands from a contest and sweeping it away. His clean hands and his turn of speed allow him to do this in congestion, break away and hit a target.

I think it's possible that he'd be a good midfielder, but it would take away some of his strengths. The nature of a midfielder's role means that they are kicking out of packs and in congestion regularly. His skills would allow him to do this better than lots, but it would give him less chances to distribute. I'm also reluctant to move him from the position he is doing so well in, after it took seven years to give him a go there.

And we’ve got enough selection issues with midfielders anyway. And we’re drafting at least 3 more viable ones this year. Any open spots goes to them

Yes it is. He can be replaced by Connolly and will improve the midfield significantly.
I would'nt say that. He has turned into a good rebounding half back flanker. Why are all of the saints players midfielders or wannabes according to posters? Clark and coffield were recruited for that role and that is up in the air. Gresham to come back in. There would have to incoming recruits especially a top midfielder , then there's Bytel and Byrnes. Connolly is ages away from being a top midfielder. You must have seen the speed and strength of the geelong midfielders yesty, thats the standard. I would be giving Sinclair a pay rise for sure.

Personally I would package Dunstan and Battle up with a future first for Ben King. Dunstan would be merely steak knives, the Suns would know he's a chance to get delisted, but Battle has potential to not only be a gun onfield in a key position in a mobile forward line but also has character and marketability. I'd like to keep him personally but if we can't develop him properly, he may be have a better time in warmer climes.

The Suns would laugh themselves to death over that, even if we could trade Dunstan.

The club well i know the coach doesn't want him going anywhere

Hope not, but not so sure we won’t, he is not that happy at the minute either

We St Kilda-d him. In my eyes he was good at CHB, very good in fact. Showed a lot of promise and then for a reason i still cannot understand we started playing him everywhere but CHB?????? And we kept doing it! A fresh start would be good for him.

I don’t think anyone has ever had the chances Long has had. Even got a new position in order to try and make his ill timed aggression useful but was found wanting. Depth or gone???

I would hope all our players put their hand up for a big Pre season but also hope the coaching and fitness staff put their hands up and do a better job then they did last Pre season

Keep, Rattens job to fix his mental issues. Good when playing well. If he can't be saved from himself, shop him on, but not this year.

Well Sincs can play in the midfield and we need some zip and skill there so it's a pretty easy move TBH. We also have plenty that can play at HB not forgetting Pato will come back in.
Clark was recruited as a mid but has played HB because his body wasn't ready.
Coff, according to the club was intended for the midfield too but hasn't gone there yet.
Personally l think we need to push our quality players into the midfield so for mine Clark should spend most of his time there, as should Sincs and Byrnes.
Snaggs should spend half his time there too. Bytel obviously full time.

What it also means is that others will get pushed out. Billings, Ross and Dunstan do spring to mind.

I'm thoroughly if the opinion that we already have the cattle to get better.

Enough cattle to be a constant top 4 side ?

The club seems to have got themselves into a spot were we really need to get rid of a lot of players that are just not going to cut it , sure Dunstan , Ross ect are good enough to play in finals but are they going to be in a team that could win a GF , i would say no.
I think we really need to bite the bullet now and get rid of them while we have good core of young players that can all grow together , Im happy for a couple of years of gradual improvement and then having a real shot at winning a flag , not scraping into the 8 making up the numbers which we would have been doing this year had we made it
