Carlton don’t have to do anything they have some waiting in the wings already

Carlton could do with some “learnings”

Boring, redundant opinion that belongs two weeks back.

Teague himself asked for the results of the review to be presented following the conclusion of the season, that happened, he was then given his marching orders.

Not everyone has the same one-dimensional POV. Due process is a thing, and we've stuck to it the whole way through. Ross now exiting from the coaching continues to support our rigid adherence to our own selection process.
Agree.

Adherence to a process to find the best coach (as deemed by a panel, not the President) is important.

While they would have appointed Clarkson without going through the process I can see why.

It takes courage to stick to a process and ask all your candidates (even your strongly preferred one as Lyon was) to undertake it.

Unfortunately it’s meant that some of the more experienced senior coaches in Clarkson, Lyon and Buckley are now out of the running, but you can’t win them all.

I think they need to broaden their horizons beyond experienced senior coaches and look at some of the ahighly rated assistants as well. The best one of them has gone to Collingwood, but at this stage I’d leave no stone unturned to find the best coach for the job.

If it’s Brad Scott, I would worry that the last 7 years of torturous rebuilding will go to waste middling out for the next decade before leaving the list in a total state of disrepair. On the plus side, he’s probably the only available coach that would have the courage to stand up to Mathieson. The others may find this challenge too difficult to overcome, as we have seen over the past decade.

You'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if they didn't have so much form.

Sticks/LoGuidice/Sayers - they may talk progressively tougher but they're all cut from the same cloth.

Carlton needs a board spill, not to just keep promoting from within.

As amusing as it otherwise is, I do suspect they'll be coming for Adem Yze sadly.

Interesting if they go down the Yze path. He's an experienced assistant coach (as was Teague). However, he has never coached his own team. So do they go for an "inexperienced" coach again?

Lyon was promised the job and now sayers has backflipped and asked him to interview with other candidates and do the usual PowerPoint presentations and psych tests

Ross has told them you head hunted me so get ****ed

They don't really have much choice now. Unless they want to have a crack at a Brad Scott or a Buckley. Doubt Buckley would be interested anyway.

Actually, not sure anyone but an assistant looking to take the next step up would be interested in risking that shitshow and I wouldn't blame them.

Will be interesting to see how the cowpat lands.

Just waiting for Cerra to nominate another Victorian Club LOL

Carlton are a shambles

Had the chance to sign Papley but signed Betts LMFAO
That's totally wrong and totally bullshit.

Possible - but to the best of my knowledge Luke Sayers is not on public record stating he/Carlton made a formal offer to Lyon - OR, is Ross Lyon on public record stating he actually received any offer from Carlton...?

Or are you simply referring to the AFL media muppets who are paid to speculate and/or exaggerate and/or misrepresent snippets of information and/or which may also include SEN commentary, such as Bob and Andy's glorified pub-talk ramblings..?

I think Buckley would still be in the frame, but we'd have contingencies if we needed to go down the path of an untried but highly credentialed assistant. Goes against the grain somewhat, but the ultimate decision was to remove Teague and that has already occurred.

Not super keen on Scott, but can see why the board might be interested. Did reasonably well with a middle-of-the-road list and realistically overachieved while he was there. I rate him higher than his brother as a match day coach. Always liked his stance on remaining competitive, even as the squad was essentially being rebuilt.
