I guess a bye before the grand final eliminates the possibility of anyone missing out on a flag due to the new concussion protocol.

Higher ranked QF winner gets the Friday night prelim. Only times I can think of it not being the case are 2006 and 2012.

In 2000, Melbourne got the Friday night PF and Essendon the Saturday afternoon slot despite Essendon being minor premier and Melbourne finishing third in the regular season. Also, in 2001 both PFs were played on the Saturday.

Yep, playing in Brisbane has stuffed things up royally. Strict 14 days quarantine coming from from Brisbane so with a final there next Saturday night the winner can’t play in Perth for 2 weeks.
The AFL certainly are amazing at shifting the goalposts when it suits them
This is incorrect, Brisbane has now gone 22 days without a community covid case, once we hit 28 days the border to WA opens completely and the winner of the Lions/Bulldogs match won’t have to do any quarantine in Perth.

And at worst if there is a new community case in QLD (and they keep the game at the Gabba), the SF winner would fly to Adelaide straight after and spend the week there before the PF, and then only need to do 7 days quarantine in Perth.

But realistically if covid were to pop up here again the game would move instantly to SA just to avoid any issues. Basically the winner of the Port vs Brisbane/Bulldogs PF won’t have any quarantine in Perth at all

Don't bet on it they made SA wait 35 days...

Wish the Victorian Government would just concede the Grand Final already so the AFL can give some clarity on if they'll play it on the 18th or 25th.

This, of course, assumes that the Victorian “government” is proactive, gracious and helpful. All of which is somewhat unlikely.

And when the Victorian “government” finally concedes, it won’t actually be a decision by anyone, it will just be “a series of creeping assumptions.”

The airlines are predicting that Port will be in it. Have jacked up prices on flights to Perth already that weekend. Both airlines will put on extra flights if need be but at a price

I've already booked refundable flights and paid through the nose. Can't imagine what they'll be like in the event we win through to the Grand Final even with extra flights.

My daughter in law is chasing tix, why I keep looking at the afl.com site, still says TBC, annoying

I always find it amusing that Airlines can put up prices whenever they like but there's always a public outcry over "surge" prices by Uber etc on New Years Day or Christmas . . .
