How about an all star game between prelim and grand final then with players involved not in the grand final?

Problem with these things is even then, clubs will complain player loses pre season or year out due to x or y injury in meaningless game.

Personally feel like AFL will put our prelim on the Friday night, was Friday night pst year v Richmond
This is why I think it’ll be us.
You guys were top of the table last year and thus had the right of slot.

No chance.

Melb friday prelim, Port Sat night prelim gives the semi final winners both 7 day breaks which is fairest. (Especially with no pre finals bye week).

Given Port are getting a home final, and that prelim winner would then travel to Perth does it lock in the bye week after the prelims?

If it's good enough in NRL (SOO), NFL (probowl) and NBA (all star game) it's good enough for AFL. Tough luck if team(s) lose players to injury. It's about the game and entertainment, not about the clubs

Pretty much. Huge advantage for Melbourne if they win given they won’t have the quarantine requirements for those two weeks.

If Port are to make it, as it currently stands, we won't have to quarantine either.

Can see a Brisbane final coming back to bite the AFL big time. If current government restrictions stay in place there is going to be some decent hoops to jump through and Port could be affected the most which would be BS

State of Origin isn't an All Star game, not sure why that gets a mention. It's arguably more important than winning the club competition lol.

The ProBowl has legit 6th stringers starting and they all avoid tackling/contact the entire game. NBA isn't a contact sport and even then zero defense is played, the risk of injury is negligible.

You can't play Australian rules football 'soft' without materially affecting what you're watching. I think the Bushfire Appeal game showed it's a bit of a novelty not worth pursuing outside exceptional circumstances. Nothing entertaining about two hours of circlework.

I think the bye week will be between the Preliminary and Grand Final. Dates amended.
I think the only way they’ll use the bye is if cases pop up in WA. Why would you insert a bye in there leaving yourselves open to a couple of covid cases stopping fans from being at the game? Would make no sense at all.

Because if McGowan is true to his word those teams which play in Brisbane are required to do 14 days quarantine

Semi Final
Friday
Geelong vs GWS Optus Stadium 7:50pm AEST

Saturday
Brisbane vs Bulldogs/Essendon Gabba 7:30pm AEST

Prelim
Friday
Melbourne vs Geelong/GWS Optus Stadium 7:50pm AEST

Saturday
Port vs Brisbane/Bulldogs/Essendon Adelaide Oval 4:35pm AEST

They tend to have a Saturday twilight prelim so we'll go with that.

Well if that’s the case have that game in Perth not Brisbane. Why would you disadvantage port and Melbourne and leave yourselves open to an outbreak ruining the grand final to give the lions a home final? Send them to Perth now.

This all seems high risk to me. He’s done a good job of protecting WA, but if there’s a single case on the day of a final he will stop crowds and the game itself could well be in danger. Don’t really see why they aren’t doing it in Adelaide. Both beautiful grounds.

ABC News suggesting Brisbane won’t host next week and that it will be in Perth
Yeah the indication was Brisbane would be able to host a prelim but not a semi
