Hill wouldn’t be playing that spot though and I’d say he’d be better at hbf than Hayden

I've been thinking about that story about the so-called Godfather offer by Adelaide.

Does anyone have a hunch which side was backgrounding the reporter? Cause here's the thing...it could have been a way of Adelaide signalling their longterm interest in JHF. But if it WAS them, they were also basically saying "hey Dawson, see we don't actually care about having the picks to secure you after all". Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, all things considered.

If it was our side, then we get to show JHF that we're 110% committed to his future at the club, and we get to sew seeds of doubt in the Dawson camp about Adelaide's real commitment to him, and that might just help our prospects if he ends up in the PSD after all.

yes, i think he is an upgrade on X, huge one...
Im not saying that Hill is the be all and end all of all things... i was saying we need a new small forward with the potential scope of him taking over from Hall.

IF he lives up to what he can be then he is worth it... and it is still ALWAYS good to have competition for spots, otherwise blokes like Atley get gifted 200+ games when he could have had healthy comp pushing him to be a truck load better

Heya, interesting seeing some of the Dawson talk on here.

How would you feel if North selected Dawson in the preseason draft on a 4 year deal (which I think is what Adelaide are offering), assuming Dawson still indicated that Adelaide was his preferred club?

I’m really not sure what I would do in North’s position (I’d probably pass I think to protect team dynamics, depending on how professional I thought Dawson would be about it). Though I know I would love it if North stole Dawson from under Adelaide’s nose, if a fair deal cannot be done.

No doubt Blakey and others have been in his ear. I doubt we'll take him though unless he's willing to come to North.

Would love him at Arden Street. He'd fit in like a thumb in a bum.

Its 2022, come on. Starting on the bench means nothing, literally zero.

I think it does, your core mids are going to play 85% or so game time. You are going to get shit roles as a bench player. It is like Phillips atm, spent more time up forward than in the middle.

You can probably have someone like Anderson start on the bench, but I don't think it will fly with someone who see themself as a top end midfielder... or I should put it this way, if it doesn't bother the player they probably wont be the player we hope for them to become.

IMO starting on the bench is only an issue for players in the first quarter. After that there are more conflating issues so it's not simply a case of the best 18 starting on the field.

Firstly that's draft tampering. Secondly it's blatantly obvious draft tampering if they trade into a deficit when they're supposed to be getting points.
