As I said earlier today, imo would be a handy pick up. But if it’s gonna take a “knockout” offer i think we should just look at Stengle. If it’s going to require big money let the junkies over pay for him.

Quite so. I think it’s this, more than not wanting to sour future negotiations, that greases the wheels. They're all mates. People tacitly admit as much when they say Brady should pick up the phone to WC or Nobles should try and get some favours out of Brisbane or Adelaide.

FWIW I think we paid a fair price for CCJ, just in a weirdly and maybe unnecessarily complicated way. The extra 40s pick this year is more useful than a token garbage pick, and if we intend to take 4 will very likely get us someone from the top 30 or so on our board, which pick 70 won’t. It also opens up the possibility of bundling one or both of them with X for something meaningful back from St Kilda who need NGA points.
I'm not sure it's precisely this but there's clearly more to it than just trying to get the best deal and screwing the oppo. Don't know how much it comes into this but often departing players don't want to screw their old club over. CCJ / his agent reportedly said he didn't want to go to the PSD.

If south adelaide wern't such plodders JHF would have carried them into the finals.
Set up a few beautiful goals that went the wrong side of the posts.
Phillips and Jason will give our forward like the best chance they've ever had at winning the coleman.
If you cant kick a goal from one of their deliveries then you shouldn't be on field.

Future picks always hold less value too. If we really like someone in next year's draft there will be ways to get back into the second round.

I’m very happy to be getting JHF. I would be very happy to see a player like either Dusty or Pendlebury play for my club. Pendlebury just seemed an odd choice as a “good but not big game winning“ player.

I think Pendlebury has been a wonderful player. I've rarely seen him play a bad game. He and Dusty are very different players, both marvellous contributors to their respective sides. Had Pendlebury played in 3 winning GF's who is to say he wouldn't have won 3 Norms?

Probably not enough in that for the Pies; 42, 47 and 72 is 720 points and 27 is 702, so they don’t gain much

Except that 27 will be wasted getting Daicos and dropping just 2 points shouldn't hurt them very much when we can use it and they still should have enough points for the other trades they want get in.

Talented small forward Bobby Hill wants out of Greater Western Sydney, with Essendon emerging as the front-runner to win his services.
Hill has officially requested a trade out of the Giants for compassionate reasons and is expected to be a Bomber, Hawk or Kangaroo next season.

Essendon has the most compelling offer in front of the 21-year-old, who would deliver Ben Rutten’s side the goal sneak the club’s been chasing.

The Bombers missed out on Gold Coast’s Malcolm Rosas, who re-signed at the Suns, and were interested in former Crow and Tiger Tyson Stengle.

Western Australia-raised Hill, who is contracted for one more year, is keen to move to Melbourne with his pregnant partner, Georgia, who is due to give birth to their first child in December.

Two of his cousins, St Kilda winger Bradley Hill and Richmond enforcer Sydney Stack, are among his relatives who live in Victoria.

Hill left the team mid-year to return to Covid-19-stricken Sydney to be by Georgia’s side and his interest in leaving goes back at least one month – and pre-dates Rory Lobb’s trade situation.

The Fremantle ruck-forward hopes to return to the Giants and the Hill developments could pave the way for that to happen.

GWS officials were supportive of Hill’s decision to go back to Sydney mid-season.

Hill and Lobb are from the same talent agency, Corporate Sports Australia, and managed by Andrew McDougall and Colin Young, respectively.

Hill moving on would clear much-needed salary cap space for the Giants to more easily fit in Lobb, who would also need to restructure his contract and take a sizeable pay cut.

The Dockers remain steadfast they won’t pay any of Lobb’s remaining two-year deal to help make a deal happen for him to rejoin GWS.

The Giants’ position since Lobb’s trade bombshell dropped on Thursday is that Hill is a required player, given Toby Greene and Brent Daniels are their only other recognised small forwards.

The 175cm speedster played 17 of his 30 career matches this year, averaging nine disposals and kicking 14 goals in total.

GWS already granted Jeremy Finlayson his wish to join Port Adelaide this week in exchange for a future third-round pick, after he and his partner welcomed their first child recently.

They, too, wanted to be closer to family for greater support.

What initially looked like a quiet trade period for Giants boss Jason McCartney is suddenly far from it, given the potential Lobb deal remains a work in progress.

Hill would be the fourth Giant in recent seasons to make his way to Tullamarine, following Devon Smith, Dylan Shiel and Jye Caldwell.

It also sets the scene for another showdown between Essendon list boss Adrian Dodoro and his GWS counterpart Jason McCartney.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have a look at Brander now. Fills a need as a mobile CHB, Brady drafted him pretty high in 2017 and it sounds like we could get him pretty much for free.
We have talked to him according to a rumour I heard, but we wouldn’t be the only ones just in case for whatever reason.

If he is good, north should pay him given he fits Nobes age group.
If he doesn’t keep feeding Phoenix to the sharks

Happy to put in an offer and sell him on culture with Jed and Jy. Wouldn’t be upset if he chose *. So far, we are only interested and haven’t offered anything.
