Serous question, is this kid the best SA draft talent ever ? , I’ve never seen anything quite like what been offered, your offer was an outstanding one for NM. Who does he play like current gen players , Dangerfield ?

I reckon Gibbs was rated higher when he was drafted. As a 16 year old, he made the senior SANFL players look amateur.Serous question, is this kid the best SA draft talent ever ? , I’ve never seen anything quite like what been offered, your offer was an outstanding one for NM. As good as Richard Tambling as a kid.Serous question, is this kid the best SA draft talent ever ? , I’ve never seen anything quite like what been offered, your offer was an outstanding one for NM. Who does he play like current gen players , Dangerfield ?

Pav was the best 17 yo I remember.Nathan Buckley wasnt bad.

Ken McGregor must have been a hell of a talentPav was the best 17 yo I remember.
I think the Hall of Fame for hyped SA kids in the draft contains Gibbs, Cooney, Lukosius and Rankine - and JHF is now well within that company.
And neither of those you'd swap more than a first rounder for. Gibbs and Cooney had pretty disappointing careers at basket case clubs, and Luko and Rankine on the same journey (and JFH).
I agree but let’s be real here we’d all be going nuts if we had Horne next year. Tongue in cheek, I blame Tex for having an outrageous season for us losing pick 1, literally won us how many games off his own boot. I’m still betting Horne will be one of the best midfielders in the comp in 3 years.North should have taken the offer... every year.. the number 1 draft picks are hyped but rarely do they turn into a Dustin Martin or Andrew mcloed.
Would we pay 2 top 5 draft picks for luko? Nope, no way.
That deal is a bad deal imho, putting all your eggs into the Horne basket is just way too much risk. He could have reached his cieling already aka tambling, he could do his knee, he might have some personal issues which is detrimental to his development... etc etc
Just too much risk.
Premierships are built on nailing your draft picks, and afl concessions.
1 All Australian and 3 finals wins over a 13 year career.? Cooney won a Brownlow in an ordinary side. He had a great career IMO.
In fairness to Cooney he did play a lot of his career with bad knees, bone on bone bad.1 All Australian and 3 finals wins over a 13 year career.
Didn’t even win a club b&f.
Talking about the number 1 draft pick here. It’s a disappointing return on the hype.
No..peter motley was the best of them all and fate had it he never got to showcase his stratospheric talentsPav was the best 17 yo I remember.
He also was drafted by a club with a bunch of over hyped name players that had born to lose tattood on their arses. If he’d been drafted by any other club that didn’t have such a toxic playing list, he might have lived up to hi potential. In fairness to Cooney he did play a lot of his career with bad knees, bone on bone bad.

Was a shame would have left his mark on the gameNo..peter motley was the best of them all and fate had it he never got to showcase his stratospheric talents

And yet, talk to anyone involved from that era down at SHC and he's the best talent that school has ever produced. And they've produced some pretty good talent.WTF!?!?
so good he went undrafted as a 17yr old
Best 18 yo? At 17, presumably Kenny McGregor looked a better bet than Pav! Unfortunately the Crows could only take one 17yo in the 1998 AFL Draft, they made a good choice in Kenny but Pav would have been a great choice.Pav was the best 17 yo I remember.

Fair comment, but inaccurate. He was always regarded as their best product, from the moment he pulled on a first 18 guernsey.Hyperbole is never in short supply amongst the old boys.
undrafted as a 17 year old, and taken at #4 as an 18 yr old
as his senior career got better, I’m sure did estimations of his junior abilities
