Society/Culture Has cancel culture gone too far?

This thread is such rubbish.

An analysis of power structure and race has been around for a long time; mainly in uni/college. A bunch of right wing racist mother *ers need to keep this white resentment burning, so they get all their idiot minions up in arms about this. They set the agenda, so it's been filtered down here.

And this entire thread is based on a discussion of culture cancel pushed by people who are anything but cancelled. * sake. They're releasing books, pods, docos, TV shows about being cancelled. Use your ******* brains.

meanwhile, in this same country, entire words and discourses are being banned, and yet some halfwits in here still misinterpret critical engagement with cancelling.

Trans activists haven't shut down Dave Chappelle or his special but i'm sure the protest has shut down hundreds of future criticisms and discussion on anything Trans related.

Much to the chagrin of many in this thread, criticism is allowed.

How many other comedians, commentators, journalists, social media influencers etc. wouldn't want to risk pile on by having some jokes or commentary around Trans issues.
Unlike Dave Chapelle, most would have their careers adversely affected

Cancel Culture from a Person Canceller:
That response while shocking isn’t surprising. I think fracture as consequence of “cancel culture” is totally predictable. Have often wondered about the logic of those who adopt it as a tool for change; you can’t meaningfully change those you can’t talk to. Moreover, cutting belonging as means of influencing behaviour, arguably, leads to unified resistance.

Does the woke industry even employ diverse employees themselves?.as far as I can see they are remarkably narrow in demographic.

and ageism has been quietly dropped from their platform

What the fu** is the woke industry?

It isn't an industry, there is no known universe that woke - whatever it is - would ever be practical enough to be an industry.

It's just a stupid made up word that somehow is a label for impractical progressive ideals.

It literally means awake. All words are made up, common usage makes them real. That's why the dictionary grows a few words each year.
