Clark is not in the Junior U18's anymore .....any relevance to his AFL career role is long gone

It's like saying because Frampton / Crouch dominate the SANFL ......that it corresponds to the AFL Team

Mitch Grigg, Darren Pheiffer bring back memories ?
Rubbish, it's not his fault the selectors are playing him out of position...

No but I remember that "half back flanker" Jarrod Berry real well!!!

Berry, a good ave player .....makes a lot of mistakes / turnovers ....a pariah in Fantasy sports

SAINT's have tried Clark in the midfield ....the 6 x 6 x 6 exposes his lack of pace & agility .....not slow, but one-paced
Hence why he's usually played HBF or Wing

Another weekend where our side's average disposal cost the team a win, highlighted by old Kane Cornes. But he has a point given the stats.

When we have Laird, Keays, Hately and Berry as the primary individuals delivering into the forward line we are in trouble. It's a priority to have Soligo, Dawson, Hinge, Parnell, Schoenberg and even the likes of Davis and Jones who are all generally near disposed of the ball forward of centre.

Laird is a great winner of the ball but needs to be handing off to another and playing defensive side of centre. Keats was used up forward on the weekend, I liked that. Hately needs to interchange with Laird and Berry I think can clean up his disposal.

So it means moving the players around and getting these other players up to wing, centre and HF. Otherwise we will have no hope for a while.

Pretty obvious Kornes hasn't been watching Brodie Smith much this season, his kicking has been very hit and miss even when under little real pressure.

Agree ....Smith has been a massive disappointment this year .....been singularly responsible for TO's leading to oppo goals .....IMO he's not been invested enough in this season ....not in the correct headspace

What about the kick week B4 last .....travelled 15mtrs off the side of his boot, nearly missed it completely .....opposition picked up & goaled easily

Trying to do too much.

Nah he's seriously lacking composure in 2022 for some reason, he's miles off the player he was several years ago..

A bit of this. Due to Nicks' stubbornness, he won't get dropped due to experience. Crows aren't winning the premiership so Nicks has flexibility to move players around within reason. He's already dropped brown, so could put Laird back and drop Smith for the experience in the back line.

That would leave Keays, Berry, Soligo, Hately, Schoenberg as the midfield rotation, not the end of the world.

But for all the talk of Keath wanting 4 years and we couldn't possibly do that, he got 3 with triggers for a 4th. How we didn't offer that contract to him beggers belief.

The former first-class cricketer has proven to be a very astute buy, finishing sixth in the Charles Sutton Medal in 2020 and 2021, holding down a key defensive spot in a side bereft of options down there.

It’s simple. Our decision makers are not very good. They make bad decisions as can be seen by our plight

It doesn't beggar belief at all. We had Tom Doedee as an intercept defender who was going to be fit again in 2020 (noting Keath was Doedee replacement), we had just been forced into a rebuild with youth pool that had been devastated by being up for a few years, players leaving and a 2016 draft which was beginning to shape up a worst case scenario. Even with the power of hindsight, we don't offer Keath a contract in 2019. It was the most cut and dry major decision that off season. We couldn't afford to keep him in our situation.

Intercepting talls are like rucks. There are more AFL capable options then there are jobs.

Every word, complete and utter nonsense

We let a very good player go for nothing, and then spent pick 6 on his replacement

The idea that Doedee was/is some kind of Alex Keath equivalent/replacement is proper psychedelic

Do you actually believe that or have you been conditioned to believe it?

This idea has only really become popular in the last 5 months or so and now everyone seems to be believing it.

Adelaide revised its mid-year contract offer for Alex Keath at the end of the season.
Whatever the Crows believed Keath was worth earlier on in the year, he no longer justified that figure at the completion of it.
Though there was still a two-year contract on the table — which could have seen the defender stay at West Lakes if he was desperate — the sheer size of it compared to a three-season deal from the Western Bulldogs (which includes a trigger for a fourth) made his decision to seek a trade relatively straightforward.”

Adelaide selects Fischer McAsey with pick 6 of the 2019 AFL draft

the end.

Haha. That's almost a gotcha for Kane. Even Brodie's mum would be concerned by his kicking this year.

Correct which is why it was stupid to let him go. We have let Doedee play the role a number of times now and he gets smashed every time
Having Keath would have allowed us to develop a settled backline and be a lot further advanced in our rebuild

It’s not even vaguely correct

It’s complete invention. Keath regularly held down a key defensive post when matchups called on it

Where did this idea come from?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Lol why did quote that article?

Apart from the timing of events, there’s not significant evidence that selecting McAsey was more than a coincidence. At most it would have tipped the scales in his favour if they liked 2-3 players equally at our pick.

Our history at the draft suggests we won’t reach too far for needs.

Mutineer DaKids you lads have a good handle on the draft crop. How do guys like wardlaw, tsatsas, phillipou, hewitt, ashcroft etc stack up talentwise to jason horne francis.

Reason for the question is it would cost the earth to pull him out of north if it was possible...2 high 1sts would be the start no doubt.

Alternatively would it be much better value taking one of the top mids this year and saving that 1st next year. Is there much of a gap between jhf and those other mids in talent in your opinion(s)

Very relevant question. Not only for us to ponder, but also for the club to closely analyse.

For a club desperately looking to deepen it's elite player list, giving up two potential elites for an unproven elite is quite a risk. If JHF works out, we have a champion on baller for years. But have we taken any steps toward our other needs?
If he doesn't come on to elite levels, losing two opportunities to find that talent will set our rebuild back several years. We'd have neither high draft picks or trade collateral to use in enticing other elites to the club.

As I said, it's quite a risk and the stakes couldn't be higher. It wouldn't be melodramatic to suggest careers hang on this. Players, coaches, list management etc...

Getting JHF would be a good thing for the team. I do feel however the bet we're placing is "all in".
Hope we win this hand...

Save your carton Skippos LOL

His most recent facial injury, the result of poor reflex's & judgement .....it just happens too frequently to be dismissed as unlucky .....Clark will not be a star player, top 3 on the SAINT's list ......maybe Norths 🤣

I mean I'm used to disagreeing with people on here but this is just becoming a weird way to disagree.

Attributing a broken nose to poor reflexes and judgement? Very interesting take. Not sure anyone who's played footy will agree with that.

His and Butler's heads were about 2 feet from each other, running straight towards each other, before they could even see the other. The Carlton player's body (their target) obstructed their view of each other. It's just a freak accident. It happens. Are you suggesting that Butler has poor reflexes and judgement too? Frequency can just be bad luck - you can hardly blame Clark for the Mackay bump last year too.

Sure, there are plenty of ways to discuss this one, but it feels a bit dishonest to use a bloke getting his nose smashed in a freak contest as evidence for him being a weaker player.
