Ferris is around 35 isn’t he?? Be ok in div2 but think div1 might be better going with a younger ruckman but who knows maybe they just didn’t have anyone with height.

Bit harsh on Church. His a Westy junior and been loyal to Westy for a number of years ( outside 1 year at Hillside where he was pretty dominant). Always played predominantly forward but has played down back a lot this season. He played back then went forward and kicked 2 goals ( most for Westy) and named in the best so not sure if you and the club were watching the same game. As for what his getting paid I can assure you he was offered more at other clubs and imo his worth whatever the club pays him. Put him in a good side as a main or second forward and his pretty good at kicking goals.
But let’s move on rather than point fingers yeah!!

I know Church is one of your boys Turbo and been a big player in this division for some time but I was talking about moving forward in 2023. I don’t think he can still conmand the big dollars and have success with Westy.
Admittedly yesterday was the only game I’ve seen this year 👍

Archer and Dunn had real presence, Dunn obviously a star but Archer was really up and about early and throwing his big frame around. He had 4 shots in the first quarter, unfortunately for him missed them all. I was expecting similar from Church but didn’t see it! Nabbout I thought really tried to spark them in the first and was full of energy but that did turn to frustration as he was involved in alot of minor push and shoves.

Could Church (and a few teammates) accept a little more than minimum chips to allow them to bring in a key fwd and a key back ? I think that would be enough to get them much further. Key + Saad, Church, Nabbout is very potent! And like posted earlier Church has the flexibility to go back. Some clubs that get that sacrifice from a playing group can convert it into a flag

I watched the stream of West Coburg/Westmeadows and it was all one way traffic from the first bounce. WC came out strong with the breeze and put on 3 goals before WC went inside 50.
Westmeadows made crucial errors that cost scores and didn’t handle the WC heat. Mehri was towelled by the WC ruckman and looked very sluggish, maybe needed a couple more games under the belt and the suspension might have cost him.
Dunn & Archer were formidable fwd on very under sized defenders, what they didn’t mark they brought to ground for the smalls to run amok. They are both pretty slow but get to good spots and went really exposed the other way by Westy. Westy’s ball movement lacked any creativity or flair, very predictable.
WC strong on the inside and won mids battle, Drake off HB was very damaging in the first half and didn’t seem to have an opponent. They great get great outside run from the 2 wingman, Johncock & no.11 and no.11 was also great pushing back into defence to help out. Thought he was close to BOG along with the ruckman and Drake.

Tulla will be under the pump this week after a very disappointing result. Think it could be a great Prelim if both teams bring their best.

Good summary.

I couldn't believe Westmeadows didn't come more to the Highlands side of the ground. When they did they looked far more dangerous, but as I said earlier, it was too late. I thought Martini fed off the work of Dunn and Archer really well and was a stand-out for me.

I honestly didn't think West Coburg had that game in them and I'll go out on a limb now and predict a 30-50 point win on the weekend.

As for the entry fee, I was expecting to pay $15 bucks after paying $10 up in Romsey (where I thought the crowd was really good) for an EDFL game. 20 much a bit too much, especially for some of the reasons already touched on.

Tulla very disappointing today completely outclassed, needed to be better, but I can’t see them turning it around as AW are so well drilled and have lots of polish. Anyway Tulla live to fight again. I thought the crowd was very small today been to many finals at Windy Hill and this was one of the smallest I’ve seen for any division..both clubs have good crowds, but I think thE price tag for entry was a bit rich really. I“M Sure it kept many many people away, I spoke to a Northern footy person and they said they charge about $12 for finals. It’s not that I can’t afford it, but hey I”m sure $20 entry is a bit steep for many.
$16 to get into the VAFA finals on the weekend

You sure you were at romsey? No one there after netball left, same as Sunday at Wallan but $10 and $5 a beer is reasonable compared to edfl

Ferris would be a decent age too, hard to see him going on after what I seen yesterday. If Mitch Church gets paid anything substantial I would be having a look at that too, had no influence yesterday. Saad was sorely missed, Nabbout tried hard but was reasonably well held.

I don’t subscribe to criticism of Mo Kak though, think he deserves the opportunity to see it through. Like that Westy went for stability and backed him in, coaches get better with each of experience and mistakes made. For the ones critical of Mo Kak I would ask for your thoughts on Tullamarine ? How many seasons as Connell been coaching for the same outcome ? Big loss yesterday
Would be interesting to know Tulla’s average age yesterday. Wouldn’t surprise if some players move on next year looking for new challenges.

Might be cheaper at Highgate. Not sure. Either way, your shout. :)

No parking around the ground, in the car park heading into the ground, over in the car park on the other side of the road, but still spots along the road itself. The live feed had to be moved because of the crowd. Typically, though, lots of people still sitting in their cars too.

10 bucks is fine, don't care about beer.

I see u Saturday 🍺

I think you being a bit harsh they lost one whole season 2020 and part of 2021 so Mo has had two whole seasons 2019,2022 to work with the playing group and work out what he needs and does not need ,he was starting a long way back with a playing group that would have been lucky to win a div 2 game .
West had two big outs in Kenneth and Saad which is not really an excuse but does shine a light on lack of depth in the 2nds .
the kids he has played this year have held their own and developed and come on really well Kenneth,Yass and a few others .
this has to be taken into account when looking at the over all performance
Every club missed out in 2020 and part of 2021, Westy no different

2109- 10 wins, 2021 7 wins and 2022 11 wins the current list and current method is going no where near winning a division 1 grand final

Westy may be happy to keep landing on or around 4th each year.

The step needed to win div 1 and the the step to be competitive in premier is not going to happen unless something changes and changes significantly.

Absolutely agree. They're miles away from a Division 1 Flag. They need to bring in 6-8 players at least to be top 2.

2 of Tulla, West coburg and APW will still be in this division next year, Rupertswood are building beautifully Glenroy have always been a tough team in this comp and being the relegated team with a new coach could be anything.

I've watched Westy probably 8 times this year, and noticed a few things that they need to improve on if they are going to make serious inroads towards a flag.

1- their skills are terrible kicking the ball 15 to 35 mtrs to a team mate is there biggest downfall turnover kings... Peterson, Rano are the biggest culprits but majority of list are poor kicks. Best kicks are Hollow, Campbell, Evens, Stingel, Saad.

2- Teamwork majority of them have a me 1st mentality instead of going with 1st option they rather take on a few then either get caught or hand ball or kick to disadvantage equals turn over its something the coach needs to address as on the very few occasions the do use each other properly they are devastating as a team.

3- Way to small need some big key position players FB,CHF, CHB, Ruck
and another big mid just the 5 players as they have enough talent when their kicking improves to seriously challenge.

4- Finally the coach needs to challenge the squad on their skills in preseason be way more team focused instead of me time and get the talls with a bit of body size to compliment the kids. Get players in their proper positions ie Evens is not a mid at centre bounces gets smashed in there hes a winger who'll cut teams up. Needs to make some tough calls on some players. Can see them seriously challenging if they get there list a touch better.

Agree on some of these points, disagree on others, when you say make hard calls on players who are you talking about

I agree with you the their short kicking is very poor they don’t play for each other, they handball to much .very slow going forward.playing players out of position.the coach needs to change his game plan to suit the players his got .I think their list is not that bad their young players would benefit from playing senior this year only get better and they need a chf who can kick goals they can’t rely on saad and nabbout, two really good midfielders who can run and kick the ball well maybe another ruckman and a full back apart from that I think they should be fine
Miles away really? Yassine, sudaro,

Agree on some of these points, disagree on others, when you say make hard calls on players who are you talking about

But your happy to names players who you say turn the footy over.
Thats no different to saying someone is good at say marking and to say turns the footy over that can be improved but when your going to name someone on social media as being not up to it I think that's unnecessary. Just my thoughts.

Agreed i have stated a number of times they are going no where quick smart and chose mid season to reappoint the coach, why not wait until season end then challenge on what change is required

Things need to change and change in a huge way

Method and personal are not going to get them to win a final, miles of the big boys
