Geelong vs pies final should not be at the mcg.

The AFL is a flawed competition...and when you think about it it`s not difficult to see why...however I do think they could make some changes that would square things up a bit...but why would they? it suits them as it is....but anyone not familiar with the sport would think it bizarre that(as an example) in 2018 WCE beat Collingwood in H&A season..finished higher than Collingwood on the ladder...beat them in a final..and yet still had to play the GF on Collingwood's home ground! Now tell me that`s fair..so any interstate Premiership against an MCG tenant is quite an achievement...obviously it can be done...but that doesn`t make it right.

Bahaha

Geelong v Carlton at CatPark
Carlton v Geelong at the G.

You cant sit there and say the advantage / disadvantage is equal.

Geelong play and train at CatPark
Carlton never set foot at CatPark

Geelong play almost as many games at the G as Carlton often it is 5 to 7.

Games at CatPark only allow a few thousand oppo fans in at best, v at the G Geelong can have 20-30k of their fans in attendance

Geelong play home games at the G, Carlton don't play home games at CatPark

If geelong v Carlton is a +1 / -1
Carlton v Geelong is akin to +0.2 / -0.2
Beautifully said. Not only that but alphabet stadium isn’t even symmetrical, it has one wing that’s almost straight and the pockets are crooked because of that. It is unique in almost every regard which gives a huge leg up to the team that is familiar with it.

Geelong supporters will ignore this because “reasons” though, and continue to spout the same 9v13 nonsense ad infinitum.

Surely you can see how your statement can be turned around.

Stiff s**t. The AFL play finals where they arrange to play finals. If Geelong doesn’t like it…

Some teams need to earn the right to play a final in their home State.
The need to keep a 1960s definition of home & away is at the centre of this issue.

The Cats are unique in that they get more games at the G than the other non Melbourne clubs - the G is relevant only because the GF location is not earned.

We all know some teams have an unearned advantage on GF day.

In 1956 Melbourne had a population of 1.66 million and built a massive 100,000+ capacity stadium

In 2017 Perth had a population of 2.2 million yet could only build a 60,000 capacity boutique stadium

Pretty obvious where the GF should be held each year

Because of something that happened 70 years ago.

Set your watch to it every year hey.

Same old story.

Advantage through H&A season playing on such a pox second rate oval only they get to train on.

Glorified ladder position.

September fail.

Should put grandstands around it and play finals there

Interstate clubs train on their home grounds too. Maybe not all the time. Doesn’t essendon have two training grounds, one mcg and one marvel sized. Even Geelong have a mcg size training ground.
Besides the point. If Collingwood moved from the holden centre to training at MCG or Dockers from Cockburn to Optus then you might have some sort of moral high ground but currently only Geelong train and play on the same ground. They also maintain the ground unlike a separate independent company like at MCG or Marvel. Having an intimate knowledge of the ground gives you a huge advantage.

PS can a gold coast fan inform me where Suns train, I couldn't find that information.

Easiest draw. As always. 👌

We got 10 games last year against the previous year’s other top 7 teams. Same as Richmond, who were the defending premiers. One MORE game than Port, who finished on top of the ladder in 2020.

Yeah. Like always.

You had to go back a whole 1 season to find an example of us getting a harder draw than a reigning minor premier
