There are pie fans on twitter still crying about Duncan not getting pinged when he never fully grabbed the ball until he was tackled. The umpire page on twitter saying it's a correct decision and they can't handle it.

I like to think the Ball sliding through to our advantage was us getting one back. The Blicavs slip, the Danger charge that bounced the other way led to Pie Goals. The bounces Holmes got running into goal in q2 were horrible. It finally went our way with that one. Also at the end when Danger bombed inside 50 the ball bounces away from Duncan just to add extra one.

The Holmes bounce in Q2 was shocking, he did nothing wrong and it bounced over his head. Unlucky to not get a high free kick a few seconds later too.

As for Blitz he was slipping over all game, wrong boots? He wasn’t alone though - Sidebottom slipping over when Rohan fresh aired the mark allowed us to stroll in for the sealer.

Surely for instances like this, which rarely happen but still can, you just put a camera in the top of the post looking straight up. In this case, the ball goes clearly over the camera. If it doesn't, you don't see it. Use the shitty cameras they currently have for that, and spend the money updating goal line cameras.

You probably could but you honestly don't need it. The Tom Lynch behind was about the easiest thing in score review to confirm. You'll likely add more problems with trying to calibrate them etc than you actually solve

Seems to me the ball was slightly behind him and he was rotating the same direction the ball was coming in. So he had already misjudged the flight, and then the speed the ball came at him was misjudged. Probably because he was both knackered and already thinking about his next move.

But yeah, it takes a rare confluence of misjudgement and fatigue to miss a ball by that much.

Lucky in the end... if it had him in the chest, it could have gone anywhere.

Basically the hardest thing to actually do was the best way for that passage to play out.

This was because early in the game I think Elliott kicked it directly to the boundary when tackled and under a pack in the 1st quarter, and it was correctly called a free kick (ya know, because he kicked it sideways directly to the boundary line and not towards the goal).

When I saw Rohans miss and the ferals boo, I knew it was because of that.

I think I’m ready to talk about how Rohan not only dropped the obscene pass from Jezza but he basically fresh aired it. I don’t really know how he did it.

I haven't rewatched yet but I was told by the missus that he had sprinted 80m straight to get to the fall of the ball. Very late in a game where he'd had 80% game time and had the most repeat sprints on ground and 4th for total sprints.

Reckon he was just gassed to the point the skills dropped. Still got it off.

There's brief footage of Scott standing by the bench approx. 10 seconds from the final siren, and in the background you see Stanley with a cold stare / look in his eye that could kill as he watches Scott.

He certainly wasn't joyous about the pending win.

The system proposed would genuinely be worse than what we have though. The only thing that didn't function thursday night was commentators not understanding how physics works and then rabitting on about how they didn't understand how it could be conclusive when it was clear as day.

I haven't rewatched yet but I was told by the missus that he had sprinted 80m straight to get to the fall of the ball. Very late in a game where he'd had 80% game time and had the most repeat sprints on ground and 4th for total sprints.

Reckon he was just gassed to the point the skills dropped. Still got it off.

He was basically free running toward goal at the top of the square (and needed a ball over the back)
when Guthrie elected to hit up Cameron instead. So the sprint was gut wrenching.
Bloody great, despite the missed mark and the commentators laughing about it.

I think he got a finger or bit of hand to it but he didn't get his chest behind it at all, would need to ask the umpire with the eagle vision that somehow saw that Stengle touched goal in the first qtr when the cameras hardly picked anything up. To defend Rohan that ball must have been bloody slippery at that point because no one could take it cleanly or keep their feet.

We need to do some kind of high pressure match simulation between now and the Prelim? It was obvious Geelong players were not prepared for the increased pressure of a final. The 2 week break didn't help but we now face the same problem again.

It looked as if he were also off centre to the ball......ie the line of the falling ball was just outside his left shoulder, hence he seemed / needed to turn with the ball as he attempted to mark it.

At some stage I’ll stop talking about the game but not yet… just watching from the start now. The first qtr nowhere near as bad as I felt at the time. Just failed to hit the scoreboard. Had plenty of chances. Pressure was huge from both sides. Our tackling was mostly excellent.
