If Tabaner comes up, I give Freo a real chance. They will have enough height in defense and attack to worry the pies, Lobb and Tabaner will be good to offset Moore, and they have a midfield that can go.
And I think their only important injured player is now Fyfe. They basically have a full list to pick from.
I think the only concrete thing we learnt from week 1 of finals is that there is truth behind the statement the competition is incredibly even.. anyone can beat anyone and I don’t think it’s a blight on any of those teams who lose or go out straight sets. There is no gap at all this year. So your right, freo could easil my knock off colingwood I am not going to shut that down, but my bet is on collingwood

Thanks for the footage Cats_09 saves me wearing out rewind
It will be a downer if he gets fined for touching that umpire.

From discussions in previous posts, you can see the angle Guthrie was running,
it was always going to Cameron, not inboard to Holmes at that stage.
Gotta love it!

You have to give some praise to him. Only Olympic gymnasts or ballet dancers could actually leap into that position. The rear leg is perfection.

You can see it slightly better into 7AFL tweet but with the position that Ginnivan got his rear leg into, Guthrie Jnr was pretty close to being in the fetal position on the ground rather than being able to play on from the mark - wonder if that would have been a free kick to us for "low contact"?

Now I'm curious, who made it ahead of him?

This was the squad:

Here's the final team:

Pies’ supporters would have yelled out ‘Ball!’ against Zac.

Collingwood fans reminding everyone why the Pies will never be anyones 2nd team. Bunch of embarrassing one eyed salty sooks
My second team if have to nominate one. SEN callers are hardly representative of the bulk of fans ?

I re-watched the game replay with my Bro today.
We counted Cats had 10 clear missed opportunities to score.
Rohan easy miss. Stengle touched. Cameron Post + Touched snap
Close Post. Holmes bad bounce. Tuohy dropped mark...etc.
Normally you would expect half of those to result in goals.
If it was due to finals nerves... glad to get it out of the system.
If it was due to the BYE... Houston... we have a problem.
Cats need continuity of a intense training hit out next weekend.
We cannot afford the same players performing below their best

Another observation : It seemed...Pies had more lucky breaks.
Deflections, spoils, miss kicks, awkward bounces, slips etc
Frustratingly, most going directly to their advantage.
Combined with our fumbles and their clean ball handling.
All working to change and maintain their momentum.

Considering the above, with Cats winning against the odds.
It is a clear testament to Cats players and Game Plan
The ability to persist, lift and overcome is reassuring.
Just remember... the odds will eventually turn.

Media concentrating on the dive pic- First time I've seen definitive footage of Zuthries fingertips glancing the back on the way through with arms reaching up to mark. The blond turnip feels it and lays on the mayo. Ump not fooled, don't see the problem.
Except for the failure to cheat convincingly (and Luke Darcy's Cornes like attempt to make himself matter).

Our win-loss record in finals doesn’t seem so bad when you consider the extra 60 finals Collingwood has played.View attachment 1500118View attachment 1500119

Hopefully - most hopefully - fingers crossed - holding the Rosary beads and all the rest of it - there isnt another Preliminary Final loss - because i reckon the Cats would hold the record from day dot of the VFL/AFL

The ones i can recall since 1960 onwards

1962 - 1964- 1968 -1980- 1981- 1991- 2005 - plus all the others from 2013 onwards which i cant be bothered looking up the exact years
