Excellent

Hunter Clark get it done

Future second (which will essentially be a late first). Maybe even a swap of a future third rounder for a fourth on top of that
In order: Sinn, Marshall, Bergman.

But I suspect we would take any of those 3 + Pick 8 + F1. This is exactly the proposition that we opened with. It's taken them a week to realise Pick 8 + F1 won't get it done, no matter how many times you feed it to the press and pretend it has changed with multi-team deals.
they are slow learners over there in SA

Something in the water

I think the mega deal still goes ahead if Marshall is included.

We just don't get Port F1. That either stays with Port or is worked in with WC.

We leave with Wardlaw, Sheezel, Marshal.

This is a comment made on one of facebook pages on Todd Marshall:

“Hearing from a decent source that big Todd Marshall has been asked the question and has told Port that he is willing to come across to Arden st.
8 + future 1st pick and Marshall”
As has been stated before ...Afl has said that Port cannot trade their future first as they have already traded their future second..so no deal..

2 + Marshall is a good deal. 8 + Marshall is not.

I'm probably slow, but I still can't see how Port get 2 from WC.

I think 8 + F1 + Marshall is also acceptable, but I'm now lost in the confusion as to whether or not they can trade their F1.

With who? They haven't traded their F2 yet. They were looking to trade both F1 and F2.

which so far they've givem no indication they will, and my prediction is they won't

So far, but I think if we don't budge then something might happen, they might not get another chance at him.

They haven’t traded their future second, they wanted to trade both in the JHF mega trade that was floated, that’s why the mega trade fell apart.
Ok so they cant trade their future 2nd to WC to help get pick #2 and Rioli which means that we dont get Pick #2 from Port leaving nothing worthwhile for Port to offer...So JHF stays..

Saints man Cooper has gone with Hunter Clark asking for a trade

Marshall surprisingly kicked 45 gls this yr. Thats pretty good.

Although a couple of games i watched, i wasnt that impressed with him.

Correct me if im wrong but i feel like he plays similar to Larkey. Tall, slender, agile enough, very accurate goal kicker, but prone to dropped marks/fumbles.

Is this what we need? Given we sit 18th id certainly be looking at it.

This would make things very simple. Marshall, 8 and future first for JHF and our future 2nd. They can send that 2nd to WC for rioli.

I don't get this keep pick 1 at all cost mentality. If you can turn it into a bunch of players/first rounders then I would do it. eg. Hunter clark/ top 5 pick and a later first rounder. If you go through past drafts, how many times has pick 1 ended up being the best player from that draft?

2013: Bontempelli - pick 4 (Boyd pick 1)
2014: Petracca - pick 2 (McCatiin Pick 1)
2015: Oliver - pick 4, McKay - pick 10 ( Weitering pick 1)
2016: McCluggage - pick 3 and bunch of better players than Mcgrath pick 1
2017: LDU - pick 4 (Rayner pick 1)
2018: Walsh 1, but bunch of great players after that. close call on who will be best

Then go back further and pick 1 is rarely if ever, the best player from the draft class. Seelwood 7, Dangerfield 10, Dusty 3, Cunnington 5.

Chances of getting a star is no better at 1 than it is at any of the top 5 IMO. Plus you get the added "bonus" of the media scrutiny they will get. case in point this year with JHF
You make some good points but often compromised by father son. Daicos last year and Ashcroft this year.

I don't want to be a jerk. But you can't say 'IMO' when the subject matter is quantifiable. Pick 1 might not always be the best player when you compare it to the next 9-24 picks, but it quantifiably gives you the best chance at a high quality player. This is statistics 101. Definitely not overrated.

The only acceptable reason to trade the pick is that you think the top X players are even, or you want to avoid the first pick for some reason (e.g. you know JHF is a pea heart who doesn't want to build anything | the second best player is from your state so you preference stepping down).

When there is so much variation on potential (they are 17 after all) i don't think that having 1 or 2,3,4,5 makes a huge difference most years. Just look at the history. if you had the choice between 1 single pick in the 1st round, then yes 1 is better than all the others. But if you have the chance to keep a pick in the top group (lets say 5) and also have another couple of shots in the first round, to me, its a no brainer.

We’re not getting two firsts plus Marshall.

It’d be 1 first plus Marshall. I’m not even sure it would be a high first rounder. Marshall is worth a high first rounder on his own.

What would you guys want if Larkey requested a trade?
I would if we got Marshall.

He’s probably better.

This and purely this.

If we dropped down to Pick 3 and got 12 as well for Pick 1 we totally risk losing the player we are set on!

Let’s assume it’s Cheezels over Cad and Coldslaw, we drop to 3 and all of a sudden we see Cad at 1 and Cheezels at 2 so we take sloppy 3rds.

We need to otherwise do the MEGA MEGA 10 TEAM TRADE and get pick 2 from WC and as part of that drop to pick 3 from one thus leaving us with Cheezels at 2 and whomever at 3.

Well we wouldn't do it then would we! We would only do if we knew our selection would be still there and that info we arent privy to
