His ego is huge, his ability to handle the consistent pressure of being a number 1 pick from the media makes him fragile. Watching that conference yesterday I only saw more of that. And in an absolute echo chamber town like Adelaide with intense supporters at port he better be willing to lift or he will ******* crumble under the weight of it all

I think he will be an absolute star, multiple AA player. The question will be whether his onfield prowess will be enough to have his senior teammates actually want to have him around.

Think he has a lot of work to do on his tank, and I mean a lot. Obviously has a lot of power and speed and gave a lot of high end efforts when he was trying. But what he couldn't do is cover the ground in transition - all the running you don't see on TV - he was a mile off it even when he was trying.

Obviously he was a first year player but it was surprising how poor his endurance was. He doesn't look like a natural distance runner so he's going to have to work hard at it. Who knows if he will.

Also not convinced he reads the game that well.

Obviously has strengths, remains to be seen how good he becomes though.

His instinctive reading of the ball at the contest is incredible. He is so fast to react and get his hands to the ball. Im spewing we don't have him, well never did. If these reports are true then i do wonder if he will make it. Well fulfill his potential. I know its petty but i hope he doesn't.

I think he did alright as well. I've come around after hating that mega trade to thinking we did decently out of it, especially after reading all the JHF stories. Could have maybe gotten another pick out of it but wasn't a disaster. Got a great deal for Logue, got up to pick 2/3 which is very exciting for us, and didn't overpay for Clark whilst also hanging onto all our top picks that we traded in. The interviews he gave today were also good and gave me a bit of faith.

I reckon he will be a superstar in his own right too. But will he work well enough in a team environment to help the Power win a flag. Can't win it on his own and when team harmony is not innate, it might take a few hard lessons for him to learn what's right, when he generally thinks his doesn't stink. I'm sure Wines and Boak won't put up with the garbage he was laying down at NMFC and if he doesn't fall in line it will not bode well for him. More and more i think he just didn't care at NMFC based on the leaks re his attitude that are streaming out of the club now.

Same. Can't help thinking we've done well now with the hand we were dealt. My question is (and sorry if this has been asked in a different post). Did the departure of the recruiting team mid season have anything to do with this?

I am with a lot of people on here. Intially I hated the mega trade. However, after seeing the reaction from the players to JHF leaving and after processing that GWS will most likely pick a player we would have passed, he turned a cancer and our pick this year into our highest rated players from this draft and Ports pick next year.

He has also given me another reason to hate Port, not that I really needed it but hey I am happy to embrace it. On top of that we have another FIGJAM to inspire us to success. It netted us 2 flags last time, lets go for 3!

That's the issue though - just holding onto something (which was already a detraction in value) is seen as a 'win' because of what Brady has done over the past 3 years.

Nothing he has done has been outright disastrous - it's the accumulation of modestly value detracting positions that adds up over time.

When the team is as bad as ours we need value adding decisions - relative to the rest of the competition - and we just aren't getting them.

I had high hopes for the Shcnozz - but he hasn't excelled in his position.

We lost the rat and pick 1 for what is looking like Wardlaw and Sheezel and Ports Future First in a strong draft. Take that if the outcome was to neutralize our position or end up in the black.

On the other hand possessing pick 1 comes with immense leverage and yet we could only deal our way to the above. We had another pick 1 that came with baggage so it seems we just wanted to be rid of him at any cost.
Acceptable if you don’t want a loss but overall it’s underwhelming.
The fallout about *** is coming to surface now and the only question I have is could JHF and this years pick 1 not have been maximised separately?

Sadly I’m now in the position of also wanting damage minimization but to be so risk adverse with the draft capital we had two weeks ago, doesn’t impress me.

Very stressful job, especially when you're undermanned.

Brady needed the option of holding Judas to the 2nd year to be real. Unfortunately it sounds like that was never actually an option because of how unpopular he'd become with players and coaches. Port knew that and so we had no leverage in that deal. Based on that I think Brady did OK.

No wonder he is rapt (as am I) to see the back of JHF.

Our Statement didn't have many words on JHF trade, but all those words counted extremely well imo.

His strengths to date have bullied juniors/amateur players.

I think he will be a good/very good player but I'm not convinced he is going to be in the absolute elite.

Understand what you're saying but I don't think pick 1 possesses the same value it did last year.
There was no stand out talent and I don't even think Ashcroft is anywhere near the level of Daicos or JHF were last year in terms of talent.
It also appears clubs in the bottom 6 were reluctant to trade out future 1sts this year with the draft coming up.
I would have thought we would've taken offers from all clubs on pick 1 and no one wanted the no. 1 as much as GWS because of flight risk scenario.
We're dudded by the evenness of the top 4-5 kids in the draft and the fact Wardlaw hasn't played late in season and is under an injury cloud.
If Wardlaw played, absolutely dominated and was better than Ashcroft then I think we'd have a higher value asset on our hands.
