He's playing SANFL and been shown no love under Nicks. They told him he won't get another contract so pretty much their Dunstan. He's free agent so he can walk out as soon as the season ends. He'll go somewhere and be another Jarred Lyons and people will act like it came out of nowhere. He's way too good to be on the scrap heap. It's one of those weird ones where it almost looks too good to be true. Gone from star to the bin after their peak in 2017.

If I was Ross Lyon I'd be all over him. He'll have a bit to prove.
Why didn't he leave last year?

Can't even think about Keeler being the best prospect on our list right now. We've already been kissed on the dick by having Owens, Windy and Philipou land in our laps, surely we haven't got another one, let alone one that is better still.

Makes up for having no Father/Sons and for the AFL changing the rules for access to NGA lads.

Keeler could be anything. He could be the one that the Crows look back on with ongoing anguish.

These is talk on SEN just now about some story somewhere about the Pies being into Ben King.

Eddie McGuire mentioned that on Footy Classified last week.

He then went on to say that St Kilda are into him even more and hinted that the interest was mutual.

If he was to come to the saints he'd be living in Max's shadow, goes to Collingwood and he'd be the main man.

Not saying this is Ben's personality, but not every player wants to be "the main man". Being the centerpiece and "star" of a team (and the media scrutiny, spotlight and endorsements that comes with it) isn't the be all, end all for every athlete.

There's a chance that both King brothers being together would offset the scrutiny they both recieve individually and alleviate the pressure on them.

That's why you would. He's obviously happy to just slug along being a break glass option. Having a ready to go 30+ possession a week mid is what you have when you are a serious finals side. If a kid needs games push him out to Sandy. If Steele or Crouch go down you get a seamless transition. It really depends on where we finish at the end of the year. If we scrape into finals we probably keep topping up with high end youth and playing them. If we are 5% off the top teams you'd probably want to find a few players who can be intstant impact.
It’s the Tom Mitchell thing he gets a lot of junk possessions and is always looking for the 1-2 instead of moving the ball forward. Cotchin used to do the same thing but it got coached out of him. Brad used to be accused of it as well and now everyone loves him. Not the worst idea because like I keep saying Steele, Ross and Crouch aren’t exactly young and there’s no guarantee the young guys will be able to just step in once they’re done.

Ross Lyon mids have to be able to spread. He basically pushed Ball out because he was too inside and couldn't get to contests quick enough.

Ball was also inconsistent. He had plenty of 10-11 disposal games each year.
At his best amazing inside mid, at his worst , totally ineffective anywhere on the ground.

I kinda still like the idea of the King bookends. Bing was drafted playing key defender right?

Did he move because he preferred forward or because Suns tested him there for best bang for buck on field and bums on seats impact. I think that would have the biggest on field impact for us. The only shadows being cast is theirs over the opposition all over the ground.

Ned Moyle ..... yeah no thanks

5 Disposals 0 Marks against us ..... had a few hit outs and a few tackles but the Billy Longer vibes were quite marked

Rather go to the draft and get the no 1 or 2 rated Ruck who has shown ability to go forward

Mitchell Edwards a 205cm Ruck from WA and is a Freo NGA ...... would be around pick 18 ..... would piss Freo off as well

Agree. Moyleman is a myth. He was quite clumsy i thought, captured most accurately in this moment.

I think once you kick almost 50 goals in a season it probably doesn’t matter what you were drafted to be. Max and Ben would be a dream forward combo but I’m still not convinced we should give up all those draft picks when we have an aging midfield.

The best comparison I can think of for M Crouch is with Seb Ross, both B&F winners both been accused of not being able to kick the ball or get cheap kicks and both are too good to be playing VFL/SANFL. The main difference is that Seb Ross has had the support of coaches and has worked with coaches to improve his game to a point where most people on here really rate his performances, whereas Crouch has been tossed aside by the Crows and has clearly been given no support, (if I recall was dropped last year after his first game back where he got 30+ touches). I understand the idea of wanting to play the kids, however, as we have seen we are only 1 long-term injury from Steele/Crouch/Ross to having a midfield that is below average.

If he comes cheap money-wise, then I say it's worth a shot, give him no playing time guarantees and work with him to improve his game and I think he could be a very cheap/valuable pickup.

Seb Ross's speed away from stoppages is very underrated.

He has a bit more power then M Crouch imo

I was always pissed that we could have drafted him instead of Dunstan.

We missed 3 AA mids in that draft. And then a couple more the year after. I always thought they were going to be the drafts that set us up for the next decade, instead it did the opposite.

Still reckon it had more to do with the coaching. Luke dunstan was SA captain and an absolute gun

On 2013, 18 clubs would have picked Billings at 3. Aish was the other one suggested; he's on club #3 at the moment. Hartung was the one suggested as an alternative at the time to Dunstan and Acres - he's no longer in the league. All three mids we took are still on lists.

The hole in the midfield profile age wise is around the 2015-2016 drafts. Say what you like, but Darcy Parish is in that sweet spot. Anyone else would probably cost us draft capital.

best footy was easily for us I reckon. Won our b&f and was AA in 2005 aged 21. Thommo killed his career by playing him through his injuries.
thommo killed alot of people like that.
