Waiting for the biggest $$$$Parish sounding more likely to leave after Scott's interview last night
Sorry. I disagree. He is a small forward and he plays the front and square role extremely well. He is also one of the better hit up forwards in our team. He has kicked goals from 40-50m out this year but that should'nt be his main role. That should be the role of the key forwardsJack higgins really frustrates me as a player and this is why. Having a set shot for goal, he doesn’t make the distance from 40 out, he lacks composure to size up good options, often just throwing it towards goal, and although he looks to try hard to pressure, he is so slow for a small that he never actually lays a tackle. He only kicks goals through being at the right place at the right time (footy nous) or the odd freakish goal. I will probably get hate for this, but I think he is severely overrated.

I think you are being disingenuous saying he kicks the odd freakish goal. He does it on a quite regular basis. How many times has he been dropped or subbed off since he came to the Saints? IMO he warrants selection.
He brings a great energy to our forward line and I always look forward to seeing what he can deliver.
Surely we can offer more then GeelongWaiting for the biggest $$$$

to be fair, Ratts did try to fix the problem, except he identified the wrong problem.
He looked at the stats in Richo years, we get plenty of forward 50 entries, but has very low conversion rate, so he thought if we add more run/polish, it’ll fix the problem. What he missed was that every chance we had, we just long bomb on King’s head King all game for fun.. didn’t have the midfield craft or the mids that can actually win the ball and feed the runners..
And Rath is the guy feeding him stats.. Rath is an idiot, anyone who can’t see we have problem winning the contested ball is blind.. that’s why using stats to tell a story is not always accurate.. Billings scores high in champion data, but does bugger all with the ball chipping side ways and backwards.. Marshall is elite in scoring champion data points, but can’t win a tap to advantage to save himself, that’s why our midfield functioned so much better every time Ryder was rucking last year. Heck, Marshall was a CHB in the juniors, only played ruck sparingly. And it shows. Yes he get lots of kicks, but most of them are to no one, I’d rather those possessions were hand ball to a mid streaming forward.

Higgins is our leading goal kicker and is only behind another couple of smalls for most goals by a small fwd.Jack higgins really frustrates me as a player and this is why. Rath, Lethlean and a few others who were the wrong fit for us were nearly given the keys to the footy department before Lyon turned up. We absolutely dodged a bullet there.
Adding Parish and Flanders would certainly change our midfield. Significantly.
Would Essendon match a higher bid for Parish? They wouldn’t want to lose him.
If they get band one then they're not getting better than that in a trade. And the point is they don't seem to want to pay up so if they match he'd just stay there on massive money. They'll match if Dodoro thinks he can get a better deal out of us than compo.
Or we just let them match and let them screw up their cap. They'll match if Dodoro thinks he can get a better deal out of us than compo.
With them favourites to get McKay, matching is there best option because they wouldn't be getting compensation for anyone leaving.Adding Parish and Flanders would certainly change our midfield. Significantly.

He is the best of an ordinary forward groupHiggins is our leading goal kicker and is only behind another couple of smalls for most goals by a small fwd.
He is the least of our worries.

Thank you.Ha ha - nah I'm just following the selection panel.
He's clearly a persona non grata in their view (and many in this forum) irrespective of the fact that he has been as statistically effective as many of the options put forward to "partner" Marshall in the future.
Putting Voldemort aside, I've just been staggered that throughout a year where we have at times absolutely struggled to have an effective forward presence, the selectors have never tried used any of the three ruck/forward options that we have running around at Sandy in unison with Marshall.
So if that's their attitude, why bother chasing another ruck/forward?
Also, just to keep in mind, no compo for us for Gresham if sign Parish. I wouldn't care, but just keep it in mind.
Isn't the draft light on for quality Midfielders if thats the case trading in is the way to go it also take out the development/waiting period.Don't want Parish, never deal with Essendon under any circumstances.
Just get some decent compo for Gresham and go to the draft. Gresham has lost the evasiveness he had early in his career and he is not a midfielder. I'd also be happy to move Clark on, he just doesn't have the speed or the tank required. These things are genetic or you must be an extremely hard worker. I'm not seeing either with him.
Keep Billings unless, we get a hail mary offer.
Trade Coffield for a draft pick.
Then young Midfielders, midfielders and midfielders at the draft. Nothing else.
That's such a bullsh*t take!He probably suits how they play better. He looks lost under Lyon. He has had all the instinct taken away in Lyon's dour grind.
I expect him to be a gun at another club but if he's a liability at St Kilda then we might as well chase a player that we can se.
If you could turn him into Flanders or Henry you'd be at least getting something usable.

Why would that not be a popular opinion except for Crouch? Not popular opinion, but we should get Flanders, Crouch, Dow and 2 more young mids from the draft, get a competent tap ruckman that can actually win some clear taps, will change our midfield instantly.
Essendon not as confident about keeping him apparently, and as Mowman posted, he is looking for the big payday, don't know if Geelong can match others, including us.Off to Geelong you'd assume.
