List Mgmt. Brady Rawlings | Head of Football Talent (Recruitment, LM & TPP)

Would love to see the AFL even try to police that when the individual deals are justifiable.

They wouldn't and have no intention of doing it... but it is not allowed nonetheless and it would only get enforced if someone spills the beans, much like how Carlton was caught salary cap cheating, Essendon were caught with the medicine cabinet, Dees were caught tanking. Do you trust the bozzo on other end of the line?

Just as long as we don’t get any Will Walker types . Hopefully we leave that up to Essendon and Bwad ..

Well done Brady on another great draft outcome...McKercher, Duursma, Goad, Dawson, Hardeman and Finnbar Maley . Most supporters will be happy with that ...:thumbsu:
Plus the Big Pink and Steven Fisher.

So we have five new talls, all with potential. That's unreal work. We might add Sellers too.

Not sure if Rawlings deserves any praise just yet.
Keep the praise on ice for 3-4 years and then decide.
He’s had a plethora of busts until Wardlaw and Sheezel.
2019 - Mahony bust, Perez bust, Chom not busted yet (tho he's come close a few times.)
2020 - Phillips, Powell, Ford not busted yet; Lazz - ???, Spicer - bust
2021 - JHF not really an option we had to take him, Goater, Curtis, Bergman, Archer - not busted yet.

So three busts or four counting JHF, one probable bust and 8 not busted yet = a plethora now.

Didn’t Brady start after the trade/draft period in 2019?
I’m sure he stated in December

Let's not forget that Rawlings made the point of being more in sync with the current regime. The proofs there for all to see. Did well in the trading and player recruitment then did really well with the draft. They executed the plan in place. Maybe the review told the story that needed to be told?

It's been damn near flawless list management this off season. That's not a coincidence. Whatever was happening before 2023 had a deeper issue than just blaming him.

Announced in july that year to get the role
Officially started after the draft

But no doubt would still have had a say unofficially during that draft

Similar to clarko with us last year where he couldn’t officially start til late but would have had a say in things

Can't remember but if so that's even less busts.

He hasn't been perfect but the longer he's been here the better he's looked, well the better the list has looked anyway.

Even if he was here in 2019 he didn't start really shaping the list until 2020 draft trade period and now its as well balanced as its been since 2019/20 and its obviously much younger. Its also faster, we have more fast players and some very fast players among that group.

We might need one or two more KPFs, possibly a small forward. But really we can concentrate on improving the list in future instead of just rebuilding it.

This was Will Thursfield's first draft for us. Not a bad start you would say?
Gotta say I was impressed with those few minutes of Thursfield footage too. Answered questions directly and clearly, conveying the overall goal very well. Gives off every impression of being sharp and switched on, which is nice to have in comparison to the muddy quagmire of incompetence we had a mere three years ago

I’d say that a list manager is judged more on the overall state of the list than the success of any given pick. So yeah, time will tell over the next few years whether he’s been able to get this rebuild to a point where a 4 time premiership coach has something to work with.

As for Wardlaw and Sheezel, anybody with access to Bigfooty and basic footy knowledge could have picked them. It was a no brainer. Although Rawlings does deserve praise for the picks trade that enabled it despite many thinking it was a bad deal
