Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

There were mumblings about an incident at a private function between Peter and Shaun that was the catalyst for him to leave but his decision coinciding with the captain vote/choice (which had a bit of a whiff of 'board interference' about it) and the downward spiral we were in as a club, was a much more likely reason.

All power to him for picking the path that gave him the most bang for buck without having to do too much for it.
Doesn't change my opinion of him though.

I heard about those back in the day, the private function being Shauns wedding in the stories I heard.

Back in the day I was as dissapointed in Shaun as the next person, but with the benefit of hindsight and commentary from various people since it seems as much as anything Shauns scenario came down pretty simply to the club not thinking his knee would hold up and Hawthorn taking a punt on it. Burgoyne: The injury that nearly finished me

Shaun has said many times, he expected to be at the Hawks for 3 years and then come back to Adelaide to live. He didn't think his knee would last much past that and in 2012 he would turned 30 and would have had a 12 year 200 game career. Also Port were wavering on offering him 3 years, during 2009 contract negotiations, because of his knee.

Yeah. The reality is, if Port had’ve committed to him (captaincy and highest-paid amidst a rebuild) he would’ve been forced to remain as a full-time midfielder, and would’ve been lucky to play 50 more games of varying quality across 2010-11-12-13 as a result.

Hawthorn obviously had the luxury of playing him across halfback, with only sparing onball cameos, and the outcome was a 1-in-a-1000 best case scenario for him and the Hawks.

I thought Koch would be smart enough to do everything in his power to avoid this becoming a protest vote. He still may publicly talk about how Tredders would be a great candidate, but everything else surrounding it is making it more and more like a protest vote.

Does anyone know what our constitution says about voting for member elected officials? It can't be right that paid up 2024 members potentially can't vote if they weren't 2023 members. Or is the process for these elections just at the whim of the board?

The whole thing reeks of an eastern bloc autocracy:

• Opaque governance replete with sham elections, tapped spoiler candidates, murky voting eligibility, and whimsical ‘rules’ (past players must stand for limited term election, randoms from the business world can be handpicked and come and go at discretion);

• A propaganda machine with a policy of ‘othering’ dissenters and casting them as idiots at best and enemies of the club at worst (‘Hinkley Haters’, ‘they sing NTUA but they TUA’, ‘disgruntled with selfish motives’, ‘they don’t understand how anything works’, ‘it’s not the SANFL anymore goober’);

• And no matter what happens, father knows best and will remain in incontestable power regardless of any number of reverses and failures.

We down bad, fam.

Some handily slippery definitions there.

‘Feel free to keep putting up people until we say yes’

Shambolic.

The fact that the propaganda minister and by extension the club admin penned some 'vote stacking' tripe in a thinly veiled attempt to sway Tredrea supporting potential new members away from signing up says a fair bit

Kevin Monteleone had his post on Port Adelaide True Believers Facebook site pulled down earlier today. See it at post

That doesn't happen unless there is pressure from the club - as has happened on this forum on the rare occasion.

But Kevin has hit back and posted on his own Facebook page. See below, but first I will post Barry Curtin's reply and great response to his dopey post.

I don't know if a bomb has been dropped or the bush fire has just got out of control but the club has lost control of the narrative.

For those who don't know Kevin, he was the part owner of La Vita restaurant on Grange Road, then sold out his share but stayed on as manager. All the Port players for over a decade have eaten and socialised there, as do other sporting teams based in the west inc the crows, Adelaide United and 36ers. Kevin has 1,800 face book friends not to mention the influential ones tied up with Port, but not on Facebook. Kevin left La Vita mid 2023.

That Barry Curtin is an absolute disgrace. The way he carries on with fans on social media is an embarrassment to a professional sports club.

He flat out abuses supporters who dare question the club, Hinkley or Koch and has free range to do it.

Another part of the problem that bloke.

Had a shirty exchange with him last year.

He was of the belief that criticism of Hinkley was completely out of the blue and fickle, as he’d seen none of it before Tredders riled everyone up.

Well yeah, when the bulk of your social media experience is restricted to the confines of that horrific ‘Ken Oath True Believers’ thought bubble, where even mild dissent is immediately blocked and purged, you wouldn’t would you Baz.

FYI the members mentioned in the General Meeting section are not Club Members but board members who are the actual members of the club as per our constitution.

EDIT: Looks like tribey beat me to it.

I know several people including myself who have had that moron attack them on social media for not agreeing with everything the club says or does, cause in Barry's world Port Adelaide can do no wrong and we should be grateful it just exists. I just laugh at him. But I find him embarrassing and if anyone serious was running the club they'd pull him into line or throw him out the door but it speaks volumes that he still does what he does with impunity.

He's a parrot, and will repeat any line he's told to say.

His behaviour is void of any professionalism. I remember once attending an after match function in the Magarey Room (unsure if he still does them) been awhile since I went along. Port had a win and he decided that was a good time to start off MC duties by bagging anyone who had been unhappy with any of the recent performances and that victory was for the true believers and that win was to stick it up those morons who bag the club and Kenny.

He certainly put me back in my place. Of course Port followed that performance up with a loss the next week.

‘Ken Oath True Believers’ group would be in overdrive my guess with Rucci story about Port Adelaide and Warren, You can't say anything against the narrative.
