I did travel plenty. My family was and still is prominent in Darwin and NT history.

I could rattle off a bunch of names that were used all the time by those generations though while never hearing the one you claim was common yet never heard by them.

We know what those names are, the ones that were actually commonly said.

Well they were heard by me and on a daily basis. I don’t claim it was common, I know it was common. I can tell you from first hand experience it was used all the time. The C word, the B word and the N word were common place. With all due respect your relatives are wrong.

I was talking about "back in the day".

None of my Great Aunts and Uncles were hearing it.

For them they heard the D word the most.

Back in the day in Australia the N word was attributed to all kinds of people, even individual caucasians.

I don't think it's being heavily scrutinised as such - we're not looking for deeper meaning or trying to re-interpret what he said. It's just that it's no longer ok to use homosexuality as an insult any more. I don't think it gets more clear cut than that, to be honest.

AFL players are paid a lot to be scrutinised. Thats the deal. You are on TV with kids watching and are role model's whether you like it or not.

Calling someone a F***** in 2024 is not an off the cuff remark. The NRL has been banning players for over a decade for using this exact word. AFL needs to be better.

If someone calls a person a white c and they have never been called that before it may not have the same impact as calling someone a black c who was been belittled all their life with such comments.

No, I disagree. If it's about certain no-go zones, then we don't accept it - that includes sexuality, race, religion, etc.

Every Aboriginal I know was being called it so yes it was common. Someone has given you first hand experience of it being used yet you still refuse to acknowledge. It was commonly used to degrade Aboriginals. .
