Again, this is what the right do all the time with Trump - it's always "he didn't mean that". He said those words in a public forum with millions listening. The very thought that disinfectants can be used to "clean an area" is just simply moronic so the "clarification" is just as bad. And this is not an isolated instance so the old "slip of the tongue" defence does not hold.

On the bleach part the board behind Trump had "bleach" in brackets after the word disinfectants and so the link was there for anyone to make.

End of the day, people have had enough of the establishment status quo, so they look for something different.

Dems seem to want a "Broad tent" including neocons, when everyone hates them on the left and the right now. It just makes them seem like they are the establishment.

Also 12 of past 16 years have been democrats, so there is often just a natural appetite for change from the electorate.

He's not getting a two third majority of both houses, but republicans have done an excellent job stacking state legislatures.
